Q: Headaches?
I am 20 and have constant headaches, advil or anacin do not seem to work anymore. Is this normal? It kind of feels like i’m carrying a brick in my head, sometimes its in the back, sometimes in front and left and right side of the head. Anyone else with this same problem? What can do I do to get rid of these headaches with a last resort going to c a neurologist or something like that. Natural remedies..maybe? I don ‘t know..please help

A: I’m like you, I tend to get headaches really easily. Are you doing anyhting in your life that is strenous?
I know you said you wanted to avoid the doctor, but what I did was I went to my normal doctor and we made a journal of my headaches, every time I got a headache I would write down what day, what time and where the headache was located. I also wrote down how bad the pain was, on a scale from 1 to 10, with 1 being no pain to 10 being excruciating pain.
I suggest you do this for a week and than go to your family doctor and see what they say. You may just have chronic headaches. It could be something else more serious but at your age, I doubt it.
Hope everything goes well!

Q: headaches………?????????
i constantly get headaches…..does anyone know any remedies, besides medicines, to help it stop!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A: Take a hot bath and rest. When you’re resting, make sure to wear an eye mask and that no noise will disturb you. If you want, you could listen to ambient music while relaxing and if there’s a smell you like(like lavender) have something around with that smell.

Q: HeAdAcHes?
I am 17 years old and for the past few months I have been getting headaches almost constantly. I take ibuprofen or tylenol and it will go away for about 30 minutes and then it comes back. It isn’t just a normal headache either. Its like a really bad pressure, like a pulsing pain. I don’t know whats going on? What could it be!?

A: Tension headache, you should have your neck checked out by a massage therpist or a chiropractor whichever you prefer(I prefer the massage) Sometimes you can get rebound heaaachesfrom overuse of ibuprofen and yo need to watch the amount of tylenol you take 4000grams is the limit in 24hrs after that you can be causing liver damage

Q: hEADACHES?
One Sided Headaches???
I have always suffered from one-sided headaches on the right side…the pain runs from my temple all the way down the right side of the back of my neck……

Is this common?

Does anyone else do this?
i also get nausious and dizzy at times

A: Headaches can be caused by so many things including stress, food, weather………….however, if your headaches are accompanied by nausea or dizziness you need to see a doctor. Headaches are common, but when you combine a headache with the other problems it may mean something else is wrong. Even if it isn’t serious the doctor will prescribe treatment so you won’t have to keep suffering with this.

Q: headACHES????

but it doesn’t hurt that bad that i think i should go to the doctor i think its ear waxxx but not sure lol does a migriane come back every 2 months or soooo

A: Extreme dehydration will cause those symptoms; Headaches; backaches; constipation…..
Are you lips dry/cracked? and have you been under allot of stress lately; more than usual anyway. Because when I get to feeling like this, its due to high amounts of stress or I’m not taking care of myself the way I should. Here’s some suggestions to relieve it, try them for one day and feel for the difference.

Feel the spine at the bottom of your skull, does it feel like a knot on the side of your spine (your vertabrae could be twisted as well) mine does that every now and then when I’m under stress….it cause me headaches until my neck pops. I do stretching exercise, as follows:

1. Take your chin put it down to your chest, put your hands on the back of your head and gently pull it more toward your chest (if you feel pain, like a burning) then your neck probably needs adjustment. Keep doing the exercise.
2. Rotate your neck in wide circles both directions, big big circles; lay your head down on your shoulder and roll it all the way around. At least 8 times both directions
3. Turn your head to look back over each shoulder at least 8 times each way.
4. Tilt your head down to your chest then back to your back; do this at least 8 times.
5. Drink a 1/2 gallon of water, at least, within the next couple of hours. Keep this up everyday…..to avoid it.
6. Take a multi-vitamin/mineral along with a multi- B vitamin & extra potassium (to relieve muscles, if your low on any vitamins especially B’s & potassium this can cause muscles cramps anywhere in your body) also if your dehydrated you low on vitamins
7. Take Dulcolax to soften your stool, until your bowels move. Then just keep drinking the water and that will help to avoid constipation.
8….also another very good stretch for your back to relieve muscles in your lower back. Sit with the bottom of your feet together on the floor….butterfly position. Hold on to your feet with both hands, push your knees toward the floor, and pull your nose towards your toes…..arch your back for a minute then straighten for a min…..repeat pull down toward your toes, hold for awhile to get the muscles good and stretched and relieve tension. Do this for about 10 minutes…..This is a miracle stretch for me. When my neck/head/back start hurting, it relieves a whole lot of tension.

Hope this helps….

Q: HEADACHES????????????????????????
(Sorry for the too many question marks…I needed 20 characters)
My friend has recently started having headaches almost everyday, and sometimes it’s just a ‘heavy head’ feeling, but the other times it’s a proper headache. She was quite fine till about a month ago. This just started all of a sudden. She is underweight, but overall healthy.
Tests revealed nothing was wrong.
I’m really worried about her. They are not migraines. There are no other symptoms, like nausea or sensitivity to light or noise.
They fade off after a few hours, generally. They start mostly in the evening. She got her eyesight checked and it was normal.
She has gone to many doctors, but nothing has been found out.
Is there any way to reduce the pain (without medicines…she’s already taking those) or to prevent headaches, maybe something that works for you, or someone you know??
Help will be appreciated.
Thanks.

A: theres this 4 head its good works for me
my mate had headaches and then i did 4 head stopped them
Xxxxx

Q: HEadaches???
i am well fed and hydrated by i always wake up with a headache and goes on through out the day does not happen usual and i am onl 14 and what is rong w/ me it has been like this 4 the past 5 months????

A: Kallie pl see what suits you.
If you are in cold country use all warm things.
Massage and exercise in front of morning sun will help.
Hot water bath will help if cough is there.
Pl try simple acupressure given below for immediate relief.
If it fails you will have to go for Acupuncture.

There is hardly any medicine for H/A OR MIGRAINE. Not only these but for RA, OA, Back ache and almost all painful diseases. Hence they become chronic.)

Acidity, WORRY, sadness, excessive wind, cold , heat, sour food and sinusitis, constipation, intestinal inflammation; drug side effects, stress, bad smell, TV & COMPUTER SOMETIMES, Blockage in the flow of Vital Energy, BODY CONSTITUTION etc are their causes. None of them can be treated with medicine. Our 100% success in treating migraine &H/A confirms it.

Acupuncture is the best treatment.
I can treat it with naturopathy and YOG, but how can you manage pl see.

Pain killers don’t treat the pain but we loose the sense of pain for some time; in that duration our body itself treats sometime and credit goes to meds.

The useless drugs have tremendous power of side effects like liver/kidney failures, ulcer, inflammation of intestines and lot more.

Avoid late sleeping if possible; worry, tension, spicy foods, sour fruits(if acidity rejects), stale bakery foods, SMOKING and alcohole.

Sweet foods, COCOANUT WATER, sweet fruits, milk, rice, SPROUTS, SALADS and good sleep will help if cough is not there.

But you try one herbal remedy- two drops of drumstick leaves’ juice in opposite nostril if one side pains and both nostrils if full H/A will give you rescue. Betel leaf helps but it is very strong.

If it is acute pl search a painful point 3-6 mm behind your thumb nail and press it, H/A will disappear within 30 seconds.

For forehead/eye pain the points are in front of nails on the finger tips or 3-7 mm below.

It may disappear naturally too.

Hi I have been getting blurred vision black dotes for a second pain behind my ears pain/sharp side of head/top pain abouve my ear pain in my temples pain/pressure behind my eyes pressure in cheek bones pain in nose pain in forehead and blood in snot which is clear>is this a brain tumor migraine sinus? Also have been dropping things alot and anxiety and fingers going numb>also ear itching and scratchy ear> Additional Details 2 minutes ago getting sleepy more i am 18 years old also draining fromear s like clear or pus?woke up this morning imy forehead and top of my head felt either pressure or a tight band.

NOW IT IS MORE BURNING OR PRESSURE OR TIGHT PAIN IN TOP OF HEAD AND AROUND NOSE OR FOREHEAD MAYBE BLURRED VISION UNLESS I WIPE MY EYES AND NUMB FINGERS.
also pain in my temple
do you think it could be anxiety

http://www.anxietycentre.com/anxiety_symptoms.shtml
i also have a facial rash

A: You need to get yourself either to an ER or to a doctor and quick.
The drainage from the ears is what has me concerned. Of course so do the other symptoms.
You need to be on an antibiotic and you will only get that from the doc.
It may be something really serious like a staph infection, or it may lead to that. Believe me, you don’t want that.
It may be an infection in you spinal cord like or similar to meningitis. So please, get to the doctor.

Q: HEADAcHES!!!!!!?
constant headcahes….i get them above my eyes and back of my head? im 20 years please any advice i take a tyneol every nite.. ive been taking one since friday! any ideas

A: Ugh!! I suffer from BAD headaches too. Here is the deal (at least how I think) If you keep using the same exact kind of headache pill exa..Tylenol then your body gets used to that and it isn’t very effective. I switch my headache meds all the time. What I have found to be the best are Excedrin Migraine, and Advil migraine Liquid gel. As soon as you feel a headache come on immediately take some sort of pain med. Also if the headache is just BAD a cool wet wash cloth on your head helps some..and if you have somebody to rub your forehead and back of your head then that is great. Also if you (better if someone else does this) Squeeze the skin between your Thumb and Your pointer finger on your palms facing up it is supposed to be a pressure point to help with headaches. It’s hard to do it yourself because you really have to squeeze that area. Whoever is doing the squeezing tell them to really apply the pressure and to hold it for a few minutes..Repeat as often as you can. Hope this helped

Q: Why do I keep getting headaches after doing intense exercise under the sun?
I’ve been getting headaches after intense exercises under the sun especially after playing football(soccer).Usually the headaches come about half an hour after I stop playing. It takes about 30 minutes of play for me to get headaches. However,I can play at a high level of intensity indoors for about 2 hours with a short break and not experience anything after that.Usually the aches are in the back of the head and around the temples. The headaches last for a day and they severely restrict my ability to concentrate on work.My doctor told me that it is due to dehydration but I drink lots of water before, during and after play and don’t experience any symptoms of dehydration such as dizziness or nausea. What could be causing these headaches and how can I prevent them?Recently,I have also experienced minor and short headaches during school time.Usually at the end of a long day.

A: I agree withyour doctor that it might be dehydration. it takes 72 hours to properly hydrate. When exercising that intensely you might consider drinking something like Gatorade or any of the Electrolyte replacement drinks out there. When you sweat that much you are losing more than just water you need to replace the salts and minerals too. The heat acts to make your body work that much harder to cool you offf. the body cools you off by dilating the veins. This allows more blood flow and lets more of the heat escape.
The description of the headache makes me wonder if you are prone to migraines. Do you drink much caffeine? If so you might want to cut back which if you have been drinking it for a while…will give you a headache as you go through withdrawls….about 10 days

Q: What are differences between all the different headaches and migraines?
I get all kinds of headaches ALL THE TIME. Several times a week. I get so confused about the different kinds of headaches. I know I get migraines every 2 months or so, I get tension headaches, sinus headaches, and caffeine headaches. Can someone sum the symptoms up for me so I can clearly tell what kind of headache I have and maybe some tips on how to get rid of them?

A: join the club- i have a migraine every other day, and then other sorts of headache everyday- the only thing that realy helps for me is to massage my neck at the back- and then take a Migril and go to sleep- then you also get this pounding on your temporal lopes (the veins) -bad ! very painfull- the only way to release pain is to put pressure (with massage on it)
the next day you will feel like you been in a train crash, but that is better than this headaches ! God bless

Q: What kind of headaches comes from performing a physical pressure and then a nerve near my right ear twitches?
These headaches first started one day after laughing a lot, the headache just started after laughing hard. Then after that these headaches came on and off. Sometimes when I bend over to get something from the floor or when i make an effort to pick something up I feel the pain in my right side of my head and then the nerve twitch near my right ear that comes and goes.

A: This is not my area of expertise, but you should go check it out now! it could be nothing major, like high pressure, or you could have a burst capillary (small blood vessel) in the brain which is very dangerous!

Q: How can i get rid of headaches that i have everyday thats not over the counter drugs?
right now i believe im having problems with allergies but whats bothering me the most is headaches everyday. I dont know if its a sinus headache interfearing with my allergies or is it more serious than i think. When im not sick i have a least one headache a day. What should i do about it?

A: I had headaches everyday too and remember how incredibly horrible it was. For me, they were chronic daily migraines, with no other underlying problems. Unfortunate for some of us, there’s no good reason for having headaches. My neurologist told me to not even bother keeping a journal because there was likely no trigger. You’re right that otc drugs are bad to take. They can really hurt your body if you take then long-term. I use anti-convulsants (that have to be prescribed) to prevent them. The other two classes of medications used to prevent headaches are anti-depressants and blood-pressure medications. In addition to these, I use ice on my neck/nape of my skull, I drink hot tea, I get at least 8-9 hours of sleep a night, do yoga, and take prescribed pain killers when things get really bad. I would really advise going to a neurologist. They’ll be able to make an informed decision about whether they should do an MRI, PET, or CT or whether you’re probably just having migraines. If you think its just allergies causing your headaches, I would see an allergist. Some common, weird things about migraines that might scare people into thinking there’s something else wrong: the pain often spontaneously switches from one part of the head to another, pain behind the eyes, visual disturbances, and intense nausea.

Q: What causes frequent headaches and sudden mood swings?
I am a little worried about my boyfriend. He has been having painful headaches and they cause him to cry. The headaches are sudden after being angry or having sex. Anybody have any ideas?

A: Hm it sounds to me like he is maybe having some postpartum depression or maybe stages of it did he ever suffer any sort of trauma in his life recently or throughout his life? & also the headaches may be migraines not headaches themselves I unfortunately have the pleasure (sarcasm Haha) of having migraines & suffer from them it’s really horrible pain & I often cry about it because no pain pill works I have taken some extremes when it comes to my migraines, from normal ibuprofen to Excedrin to Tylenol 3 nothing works. My suggestion is maybe having him see a doctor to tell him what is causing his pain & see if the mood swings are something worse.

I wish you luck.

Q: migraine headaches?
does anyone have any suggestions for releiving migraine headaches? natural remedies welcomed. i currently take zanaflex.

A: Do you have the list of foods that trigger migraines? Some of these foods might not seem to affect you, but if you mix them with each other, you can get a real whammy. Also, you don’t necessarily get the migraine right away – it could be with in a couple of days of when you eat this stuff.
– Don’t eat : any onions; bananas, red plums, beans (string beans are ok), AGED cheese like cheddar, etc ( cottage or cream cheese is ok), anything made with a culture – like blue cheese, swiss cheese, buttermilk; processed meats that have Sodium Nitrite or Sodium Nitrate in them for preservatives, chocolate, alcohol especially red wine, caffiene, and Monosodium Glutamate. Strictly avoiding all those things, AND having a few minutes of quiet time every few hours should help some.
Also, pinch one of your big toes with one fingernail on the fleshiest part and one finger on the toenail. Sounds nuts, but it helps some.

Q: Migraine Headaches?
I just found out from a cat scan that I’ve been having migraine headaches, did anyone know that you can tell that from a cat scan?

Well, the medicine prescribed causes drowsiness and I have 2 young children so I can only take my medication at night, does anyone know any natural remedies I can use or something that might help with these severe migraines?

A: I never knew a CAT scan could show that at all… Weird!!! I understand, I have medication that makes me drowsy for mine too (Tramal). The best thing I found is prevention in trsing to stop a migraine from happening. I would recommend a massage on your back and neck for an hour once a week or fortnight, to get out any tension that may be building up. Getting a massage regularly has really helped and now I only need to get a massage once every six months or so, and rarely get migraines. Of course, everyone is different, but I think the best way to get rid of them is by sleeping and unfortuantely taking thos sleep inducing tablets. I wish you much luck though and my heart goes out to you, I do understand your frustration at this. All the best :-)

Q: Migraine headaches?
Does anyone know how to relieve migraine headaches? I used to take tylenol but after many years of taking this, I think it has taken a toll on my liver. I get pains right in my liver area.I dont know what to do anymore and the pain from the migraine headaches are so intense that I think only a migraine sufferer would understand how this feels. Any suggestions?
I almost forgot to ask, does anyone know if its true that you can suffer a stroke as a result from a migraine. I was given this info from a co worker.

A: You need to see a neurologist and get some migraine medication. They can give you something to take just for migraines and if you get them often they can start you on some preventative medicine. If you think you liver might be damaged from Tylenol you need to get this checked out too

Q: What is the most efficacious treatment for migraine headaches?
Migraine headaches is the biggest source of chronic pain. There is however a very thin line of distinction between Cervicogenic, Migraine and Tension headaches. I reckon drugs are the first line of defence however do other forms of treatment like physiotherapy help at all .

A: to be honest, i dont know about physiotherapy. i suffered from migraines for years until i was refered to a “headache specialist”, not a “neurologist”, but a headache specialist, after my initial consultation, she felt that my migraines were caused by a vitamin deficiency, she ordered tests, and sure enough, B12 deficient.
ever since then, i take 1000 mcg of B12 every day and have not even had so much as a hint of a headache since then.
it might be something worth checking out for you.

Q: What can i do to relieve my migraine headaches ?
My migraine headaches hurts so bad, my medications i took are not helping at all. Is there anything i could do to relieve my migraine headaches.

A: Migraine headaches can be the worst if not addressed immedeatly. Here are a couple of helpful hints, that I hope you find useful: 1) Immedeatly focus on relaxing… running the thoughts of stress or fear in your brain will not assist in this, the easiest way is 3 deep breaths, each one a little deeper than before, we also don’t want you to pass out! 2) close your eyes and start to visualize! Imagine you have a small camera inside of your own head and begin to inspect that area that is causing you the most amount of discomfort, what shape is it, what colour do you see, is it smooth or jagged along the edges, and as you notice the particulars of this discomfort, then start to take a look at a part of your head/ brain that feels perfectly fine. Migraines very rarely effect or occupy the entire head so there is usually a part if the head/brain that does feel “normal” as you notice the same qualities about that part of your head you can now begin to become creative in making the “two area” the same… preferabbly the area of discomfort the same as the part that feels normal!

Be Well

Kevin

Q: What can I do to get rid of my painful migraine headaches ?
I have taken my medications for migraine headaches as prescribed and directed and the medications is not helping my headaches at all and i am hurting really bad. What can i do to get rid of my migraine headaches ? ! It hurts so bad please help me !!!!!

A: Hi

Q: How do you reduce the severity and frequency of migraine headaches without a prescription?
I have been getting migraine headaches for almost a year now and i went on the pill which helped. However Sometimes I still get full-blown migraines and sometimes I get really bad headaches that occur randomly and debilitate me for the day. I have tylenol threes and I also have some expensive tablets that dissolve on the tongue. Does anyone have any all-natural tricks or remedies?

A: Limit foods containing MSG. Limit deli meats, hot dogs, seafood. Avoid thiamine found in chocolate , cheeses. Apply ice pack as soon when know attack is starting. Avoid Nuti Sweet, does not say other brands. Increase Magnesium, it is muscle relaxant. Practice unwinding, relaxing techniques, music, light exercises, and not sudden change from work to time off fast paced activity.
Some persons have success by starting the herb fewerfew.Do not take if pregnant or notice swollen lips, tight throat.

Q: Can a chiropractor really help resolve migraine headaches?
My wife has had migraine headaches for 30 years. Maxalt pills are what help her, but it only lessens the pain, and it makes her very woozy and with no energy. Would it be worth it to go see a chiropractor to see if they can find a pinched nerve or something? Thanks!

A: I went to a chiropractor and he helped me. I wouldn’t let him torque my neck but I let him pull it and stretch it. Also he held my head in his hands and sort of did this “snake dance” with it. He also used the activator on my neck. I only had to go a few times and now I only get migraines about once in a few months.
Excedrin Back and Body is only aspirin and tylenol mixed without caffeine and three of those work if I take them early.
I found out I was sensitive to msg and aspartame, asulfame k and phenylalanine. My son inherited this, too. We quit eating or drinking all items containing these and the migraines almost never come.

Q: What can the emergency room do to help my migraine headaches ?
I feel so bad i have migraine headaches and it hurts so bad and i feel like i want to throw up, i couldn’t even go to school. My parents thinking of taking me into the emergency room for my migraines. What can they do to help me ? Are they going to hospitalized me ? I’m scared please help me !

A: It sounds like this is your first migraine? Never been diagnosed before? The ER will likely *not* keep you in-patient for very long unless they find your headache is triggered by something more than the mystery of “migraine” like a brain tumor, cyst, clot, that sort of thing. Most likely they’ll give you a shot of some kind of triptan like Imitrex (www.imitrex.com), some form of anti-inflammatory/NSAID, possibly a narcotic like morphine, and/or an anti-anxiety drug or muscle relaxant. It all depends on the doctor and their initial review of your particular situation.

I would recommend that after your ER visit, you see your regular doctor for an rx of some Epidrin (www.midrin.org) and to keep it with you at all times so you can take it when needed. It’s a pain reliever, muscle relaxant, and vein constrictor all in one.

Good luck..

Q: What can i do to relieve my migraine headaches pain & problems ?
I have serious migraine headaches & verdigo. It hurts from a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being little and 10 worse I rate my pain is 9. I also feel nausea and want to throw up and the school keeps on sending letters saying they going to take us to family court. What can i do to relieve my migraines and problems ?

A: :( I’ve been there man. Here’s what works for me:

Explain your situation to your regular doctor. He might want to do an MRI or other diagnostics to rule out a serious issue like a brain tumor, clot, etc. Once you’re “cleared”, ask him for a prescription for Midrin to keep on you at all times. (http://www.midrin.org to read about it) It’s best if taken RIGHT when you feel the migraine coming on.

If the Midrin doesn’t work after a few doses, keep some Norco and Compazine on hand. Norco is basically Vicodin with less Tylenol in it, and Compazine helps with the vertigo and nausea. Both of these two drugs are pretty hardcore so that’s why I only use them after the Midrin hasn’t helped.

The next option would be a triptan or preventative medication like Topamax.

You CAN make your migraine disease tolerable. Get the help asap!

Q: what can i do to get rid of my migraine headaches permanently ?
What can i do to get rid of my migraine headaches problems permanently ? My medications are not helping at all and it’s effecting my education.

A: There is No way to get rid of migraines permanently, sorry. There are many medications for them, prescription and OTC but a friend of mine has them and she takes an herbal pill called “Feverfew” and she rarely has migraines anymore. You might try “Feverfew” you take them everyday even if you don’t have a headache. It helps prevent many of hers.

Q: What should i do to get myself better from my migraine headaches ?
I was previously diagonosed with migraine headaches & verdigo about 2 years ago and my doctor gave medication and it seem to help back then but it is killing me with a lot pain right now. On the scale of 10 being worse and 1 nothing at all, i rate my painess about 8. What can i do to get myself better ?

A: Take a cold soda can and put it on your head 5-10 minutes. That may help a bit.

Q: What should I do about my attendance at school because of migraine headaches?
I have migraine headaches and i usually need to spend time in an quiet & dark room. I also have verdigo along side with it, and i couldn’t go to school for 2 weeks already. What should i do so my absences don’t count against me ?

A: My son has a condition called POTS and last year he missed 30 days of school. I am in constant contact with the school nurse, principal and teachers so that they are all aware of my son’s condition. They have been extremely understanding. He gets extra time to make up his work. His condition causes him to fall asleep during class and the teachers let him sleep. I think if the school knows everything that’s going on they will work with you. Don’t worry, just take care of your migraines, you don’t need the extra stress. Good Luck

Q: What can i do about my situation because of my migraine headaches?
I have an serious illness condition and i have migraine headaches & verdigo so i’m very sensitive to flouresecent lights & noises. The school official doesn’t want to provide homebound services even though the doctor filled out the application. I’m currently having a migraine right now and i feel very bad. Should i go to the emergency ? I’m helpless and none of the medications is helping !!! What should I do about my situation ? The school wants to file my absences as truancy.

A: First of all, an employer is not required to allow you to work from home just because your doctor suggests this. If your employer is aware of your illness they do have to try to accommodate you under the Americans with Disabilities Act. But there is a catch. If the employer is able to show that it is an undue burden on them to change your work environment, then they are not in violation of the act and they can release you from your employment. Working from home could be seen as an unreasonable accommodation. They are not required to allow you extra time off just because you are ill either. If you miss too much work or your missed time is in excess of what is permitted in the written company policies, they can terminate you and classify it is sub-par work performance. If you work in a “right to work” state like Arizona or Colorado, they do not even have to provide you with a reason for your termination and filing an ADA claim is that much harder in those states.

As far as your illness and the migraines, you need to see a doctor that specializes in the treatment of migraine headache. Most of the time these are neurologists or pain management specialists. They will be able to help you find a preventative medication that will reduce the frequency and severity of the migraines, as well as help you find an appropriate and effective abortive medication for when a migraine breaks through. If you have not seen a specialist like this you need to ask your PCP for a referral to one in your area.

Going to the hospital every time you get a migraine is going to get very expensive and also, they will label you as a drug seeker after numerous visits. I know that sometimes there is no other way to get migraines under control than to go to the hospital. I have had to do this 2 times because my medication did not get rid of the migraine. I always waited at least 48 hours before I went in though. My mom is a nurse and told me to avoid making trips for migraines unless I had tried everything to get rid of them, including going to see my family doctor first. She has worked in the ER for more than 10 years and said that migraine headaches are one of the most frequently reported pain issues for people who are drug seekers and hoping that the doctor will send them home with a prescription for narcotic pain medicine. I am not saying this is what you are doing and I certainly know how you feel, but you need to try and stay away from the ER unless the migraine is the most extreme pain you have ever felt in your life.

Q: What can i do to relieve my migraine headaches pain ?
I have migraine headaches and it is very painful and i feel so nauseated wanting to throw up a lot. I can’t stand lights especially bright lights like sun light and flouresecent light bulbs. What can i do to relieve my pain ? It hurts so bad!!!! Someone please help me !!!!!!

A: Go see your doctor! It used to be that there was no cure for migraines, but these days there are prescription medicines that work for most migraine sufferers. They usually come in the form of a nasal spray. You ideally should take it at the very beginning, when you first sense that a migraine is coming on, if possible before the pain even really begins. Your doctor should be able to give you a prescription for one of them, and there are a bunch you can try if the first one doesn’t work.

In the meantime, lie down in a cool dark quiet place and try as best you can to relax.

Q: migraine headache!!!?
i want to know what’s the normal/average age of getting migraine headache? is it normal to get it at the age of 16~
and what can you do to prevent the headache (home remedies or drinks..not medicine)? anyone knows how to cure it completely? i mean not by eating painkillers like tylenol
thanks <3 =)

A: A migraine headache is a form of headache which is typically considered the most intense and disabling. Migraines are chronic in nature, meaning that they happen often for the individual that is affected. Typically Migraines are one sided in nature, meaning that the pain is felt on one side of the head.

When one looks at the Oriental Medical breakup of headaches, migraine symptoms start to make a lot more sense. In this system, migraine symptoms can be broken down by location, type of pain, amelioration and aggravation. Then, diagnosis can be made in relation to the organ systems or the channels affected. Lets look at how some of these symptoms might break down.

Top of the head – The liver channel reaches the top of the head. This type of headache is most often related to “a deficient liver blood state” but can also relate to “liver yang rising” which is an excess state. The difference being that if excess, the headache would be aggravated by lying down, but if deficient, would get relief from lying down.
Sides of the Head
Only One Sided – This relates to the “Gall Bladder” channel, and headaches here are either due to “Liver Yang Rising” or “Liver Fire”
Temples – This again is typically thought of as due to a disturbance in the “Gall Bladder” channel, and as such, can be either caused by “Liver Yang, “Liver Fire” or “Liver Wind.” This location shows pain that is often throbbing in nature.
Behind the Eyes – This is a very frequent location for migraine. This type of headache is often due to “Liver Blood Deficiency.”
Forehead – Headaches here are usually related to the “stomach.”
Back of the Head – Here, headaches are usually due to a “Kidney Deficiency” manifesting on the “Bladder Channel.”
Whole Head – Chronic Headaches n this area are due to “Kidney – Essence deficiency. They are not typically scene as migraines.

Q: Migraine Headache?
I have had a horrible migraine for the past 2 weeks. It came on so suddenly and so strong that i went to the emergency room. I have been to 3 different doctors since then and none of them will help me. I have searched the web for answers. The only thing i can find is answers about migraine prevention. The same thing the doctors keep talking about. I am not concerned about migraine prevention until i get rid of the one i already have. I don’t understand how i can have the same headache for 14 days now. It’s ruining my life! Can anyone help me?

A: I can’t believe they would not prescribe some medication for you. I take Imitrex for my migraine headaches. It is in pill form, but my MD said if it doesn’t work, she can prescribe me a shot to take that is fast acting. No one should have a headache for 14 days. That’s ridiculous!! Go back to the emergency room, or see your doctor and demand treatment of some sort to get rid of the headache. I’m sorry no one has treated your pain you poor thing!

Q: Migraine/Headache?
Last night I thought I had a normal headache and figured I could take a tylenol for it to go away. About 3 hours later it was still there and took one more tylenol. It hurt so much I was squeezing my skull! Anyways I got some sleep and woke up with parts of another headache….why? did that happen? I thought sleep would have gotten rid of the migraine/headache?

A: I have terrible migraines and the next day, all day, I feel terrible, I still have a small headache and feel completely drained of all energy. This is normal for a migraine, I take Immitrex which helps greatly, your doc can prescribe it for you.

Q: How do you reduce pain when you have a migraine headache?
I’m looking for a home remedy to reduce the pain for a migraine headache. I went to the doctors and the medicine he gave me does’t work. Please help me. I have had this migraine for a week.

A: There is no medicine for H/A OR MIGRAINE. Not only these but for almost all painful diseases. Hence they become chronic.
Acidity, excessive wind, cold , heat, sour food and sinusitis, constipation, intestinal inflammation;
Blockage in the flow of Vital Energy are their causes. None of them can be treated with medicine. Our 100% success in treating migraine &H/A confirms it.
Acupuncture is the best treatment. I can treat it with naturopathy and YOG, but how can you manage pl see.
Avoid late sleeping if possible;spicy, sour, stale bakery foods and alcohole.
Sweet foods, sweet fruits, milk, rice and good sleep will help you.
But you try one herbal remedy- two drops of drumstick leaves’ juice in opposite nostril if one side pains and both nostrils if full H/A will give you rescue. Betel leaf helps but it isvery strong.
If it is acute pl search a painful point 3-6 mm behind your thumb nail and press it, H/A will disappear within 30 seconds.

Q: What is the best way to try to prevent a migraine headache?
I can tell I have a migraine headache about ready to start. What is the best way to try to ward one off? I just dread knowing I’m probably going to have a migraine for the next couple of days. Any advice?

A: The Mayo Clinic is a pretty good starting place for any health questions, and the link is shown below. Basically, there are two types of medication – one to abort or treat a migraine, and one to try to prevent them occuring if you get them frequently. I’m assuming that you have one starting and are trying to stop it. There are various medical drugs that can help. The most common one are the family of Triptans – there are various types. The other well known one is Ergotamines (eg DHE45). However, personally I can’t take them due to bad side effects, but they do work successfully for many people. You would have to talk to your doctor. There are other options, personally I take Tylenol 3s as soon as I feel the headache coming on or getting the warning signs and they will often stop it. Or failing that, at least they help reduce the pain. However, there are issues with them if you take them too frequently (rebound headaches).
Other methods include caffeine (coffee, coke etc) as soon as you feel it starting. Either by itself or in combination with something like Advil or Tylenol. Excedrin Migraine worked surprisingly well for me. For the nausea I highly recommend Gravol’s Ginger tablets – they work really well without the side effects of traditional nausea reducing medication.
There are various pressure points that you can try to stop the migraine: http://taichi.snowcron.com/shiatsu_headache.htm. Massaging the neck and/or scalp or face can sometimes help. Lying down in a dark, quiet place helps many people. Eating protein, lots of water and caffeine is what I often try first and I know many people who find it an effective and easy way to try to stop a migraine. Good luck – you have my sympathy!

A: Nyquil works for me.. It puts me to sleep. As soon as I fall asleep for about 15 mintues.. it resets and my migraine goes away.

Now that is just me..

My husband has one for the last six months without relief and is seeking medical help.

Q: Migraine relief, does anyone know how to get some migraine headache relief?
Do you guys have any tips that can help get over migraines? You know some migraine relief tips…. Nobody should have to suffer with a migraine so what are some migraine headache relief steps to take to get over one?

A: Well if you do not like medicines too much there are some natural cures to migraines out there. I found a site on it and you may want to check it out. Goodluck!

Q: What can cause your neck to spontaneously bruise along with stiffness and migraine headache?
I have been slowly developing bruises along both sides of my neck that are dark in colour. Before they developed, I had neck pain accompanied with a debilitating migraine and tension headache combination. My neck often feels as though it is pulling right where the bruises are. I have not been in a car accident, have not fallen, or had any kind of trauma.

A: Bruising is caused by the bursting of small blood vessels. Maybe you rubbed your neck too hard. You need to be evaluated by a doctor. It may be something as simple as muscle strain, but you need to be diagnosed by a professional.

Q: What are the most common Migraine Headache Symptoms?
I think I’ve been experiencing migraine headaches and I needed to know what are the more common migraine headache symptoms?

A: A majority of the migraine attacks are accompanied by headache, which is an intense, throbbing or pounding pain involving one temple. At times, the pain may be located in the forehead or around the eye or the back of the head. Usually, migraine attack reoccurs and is a chronic disability. The headache is generally on one side of the head, though it may rarely happen on both the sides. The unilateral headache changes sides alternatively, from one attack to another, which is, in fact, characteristic of migraine (otherwise it may be a more serious problem).

Daily routines like walking upstairs can aggravate a migraine headache. The most common and obvious symptoms of migraine are nausea, vomiting, or sensitivity to light. Some people experience warning symptoms called aura before the actual beginning of a headache. An aura is a group of symptoms, mainly a vision disturbance which foretells that a headache is coming. But, most of the people do not have such warning signs. In fact, migraine headaches are classified based on their symptoms such as migraine without aura, migraine with aura and mixed tension migraine.

Migraine without aura: The most common symptoms can be a throbbing pulsating headache, which is usually worse on the sides of the forehead, generally only on one side, that can be either severe or dull, lasting for six to forty eight hours. The other symptoms are dizziness, vertigo (a feeling that the room is moving), loss of appetite, fatigue and nausea. There may be symptoms after a migraine attack too. It can be dullness, neck pain and a need for more sleep. Such symptoms may be accompanied apart from headache.

Migraine with aura: Before the headache, the warning symptoms may occur anywhere from a few minutes to 24 hours and the aura or vision changes happen in one or both the eyes. The symptoms may be one or more of the following; seeing zigzag lines, seeing flashing lights, temporary blind spots, sensitivity to bright light, visual hallucinations, blurred vision and eye pain. Accompanying the headache, there are other symptoms like loss of appetite, chills, increased urination, increased sweating, irritability and fatigue. The “pounding” headache starts on one side and spreads to the other side that typically starts as a dull ache and progressively worsens over several minutes to hours. So, the patients wish to rest in a quiet, dark room.

Mixed tension migraine: This migraine is a headache with features of both tension and migraine headache. The symptoms include headache on one or both sides and the person may feel dull, tight and the pain, which varies from mild to severe, may get worse with activity, lasting from 4 to 72 hours. Sensitivity to light or sound, depression, tingling, sluggishness, numbness, and weakness are other symptoms.

Unfortunately, migraine headache is a recurring chronic ailment, which may recur after 24 hours for some people. For more info visit http://migraine-headache-symptoms.blogspot.com

Q: Is there help for chronic migraine headache?
I sometimes have a tension headache, but everyday I have a migraine. Depakote ER 1000 mg daily is helping, only been taking it 3 weeks.

A: If they are sugar migraines a reduced sugar intake would help. See item 71 in http://www.rheumatic.org/sugar.htm .

Q: Who thinks the $700 billion bailout plan should have been used for migraine headache research?
I woke up at 3:00 am with a migraine headache. I couldn’t get back to sleep for 3 hours then I showed up to work 4 hours late on top of that. They are by far the worst pain I ever experience.

A: You are a visionary they should definitely use it for that instead of fat ceos who took the money and ran

Q: What should i do during a SEVERE migraine headache?
My brother is having a VERY severe migraine headache happening from a scale 1-10 and is around a 9 and a half. we are wondering is there any treatment to stop this headache!!??

A: ok take some aleve drink a little soda then turn off all the lights. no lights at all!!!! then make him try to make him go to sleep i no it hurts really bad but tell him to forget about the pain like turn soothing music on. wen he wakes up it will be gone :] trust me i get these all the time ugh i hate getting them usually it only hurts on 1 side of ur head so tell him to lay on the opposite side were it doesnt hurt make sure he sleeps 4 more than an hour n a half

Q: How do you temporarily reduce a migraine headache?
How do I reduce a migraine headache that has resulted from an overdose of Caffeine from energy drinks.

Thank you

A: I use Execdrin Migraine. Works for me

Q: Why do I get sick to my stomach and vomit when I get a migraine headache?
Happens every time, I throw up when I feel a headache coming on and when it’s a flow blown migraine. why does this happen? Is it just because I’m in so much pain? I can’t even keep any medicine down so my headaches last for a day or two.

A: This is a pretty technical explanation below. Basically it all has to do with neuroreceptors and neurotransmitters in the brain. I too am a migraineur so I understand the symptoms you describe. If you cannot keep medicine down, you can get various triptan-type medications that are inhalers, injectable or sublingual (you put them under your tongue to dissolve). I usually can take Imitrex tablets but occasionally must use an injection if the migraine is very severe. Imitrex works on the 5-HT serotonin receptor. Talk to your doctor about these alternate forms of medication.
—————————————————————————-
Vomiting is coordinated in the vomiting center in the lateral medullary reticular formation in the medulla. Receptors on the floor of the fourth ventricle of the brain represent a chemoreceptor trigger zone, stimulation of which can lead to vomiting. The chemoreceptor zone lies outside the blood-brain barrier, and can therefore be stimulated by blood-borne drugs that can stimulate vomiting, or inhibit it.

There are various sources of input to the vomiting center:

The chemoreceptor trigger zone at the base of the fourth ventricle has numerous dopamine D2 receptors, serotonin 5-HT3 receptors, opioid receptors, Acetylcholine receptors, and receptors for substance P. Stimulation of different receptors are involved in different pathways leading to emesis, in the final common pathway substance P appears to be involved.[1]
The vestibular system which sends information to the brain via cranial nerve VIII (vestibulocochlear nerve). It plays a major role in motion sickness and is rich in muscarinic receptors and histamine H1 receptors.
Cranial nerve X (vagus nerve), which is activated when the pharynx is irritated, leading to a gag reflex.
Vagal and enteric nervous system inputs that transmit information regarding the state of the gastrointestinal system. Irritation of the GI mucosa by chemotherapy, radiation, distention or acute infectious gastroenteritis activates the 5-HT3 receptors of these inputs.
The CNS mediates vomiting arising from psychiatric disorders and stress.

The neurotransmitters that regulate vomiting are poorly understood, but inhibitors of dopamine, histamine and serotonin are all used to suppress vomiting, suggesting that these play a role in the initiation or maintenance of a vomiting cycle. Vasopressin and neurokinin may also participate.

Q: Sinus Headache. . .?
I keep getting terrible sinus headaches on and off. It mainly occurs on my left side. My left eye has also been bothering me and will go bloodshot. Is this caused by my sinuses? Has anyone else had this problem when getting a sinus headache?

A: i get that with the throbbing eye,,,

i take a nice hot wash cloth put it over my fore head let it heat up for a few mintues then take some vix and place it on the fore head where u heated it up ,, i feel better after a little while,,

Good luck they are sooo pain ful

Q: sinus headache?
i’ve got all the classic signs of a sinus headache

pain from the back of one eye toward the temple
headache
fatigue
blurred vision
swollen eyelids

but i got over my congestion 3 days ago, then headache started, now my right eye is blurry. is this normal? when will it go away? i don’t have any fever and those are the only problems.

A: Not sure when it will go away, but maybe your sinuses are still clogged. try a nasal wash. my sister swears by it. here’s some info. http://www.healing-thyself-naturally.com/nasalwash.htm

her recipe is as follows: 1/4 tsp of sea salt for 8 oz. of warm/hot water. use a blue bulb syringe (mostly found in the baby isle). suck up water and squirt up one nostril and blow out. DO NOT SWALLOW! i find that holding my breath makes it a lot easier. repeat on each nostril till the solution is gone. if there’s any mucus left, the warm water should coax it out. be sure to lean your head over a sink as it can get messy – water everywhere.

if you have any questions, let me know.

Q: Sinus headache?
About once a week I get these terrible headaches behind my left eye and at the base of the back of my head. And anytime I am sitting down, but then stand to go do something, it gets worse. It’s almost like a wave of a worse headache. I’m pretty sure they’re sinus headaches and they usually go away the next morning. I’ve tried everything: Vicks, hot showers, every OTC meds available…but nothing seems to help. Is there anything else that can help relieve sinus headaches?

A: Pain killers don’t cure the pain but you loose the sense of pain and in the meantime body itself cures sometimes.
There is no medicine for H/A OR MIGRAINE. Not only these but for almost all painful diseases. Hence they become chronic.
Acidity, WORRY, excessive wind, cold , heat, sour food and sinusitis, constipation, intestinal inflammation; drugs,

Q: I have a Sinus headache; any home or herbal remedies to treat it?
I’ve had a throbbing headache for several days now, which I suspect may be due to a Sinus inflamation, or nasal congestion of some sort.

Any suggestions on how to treat it, preferably herbal or home remedies? Thanks.
I appreciate all the suggestions, I’ll be sure to try them out. Thanks again, and Happy Holidays!

A: Breathing steam is a really good option, as is a hot compress on your forehead. I also find that having someone massage my head, right around the point where your eyebrows run into your nose (up under your eyebrows), putting steady pressure there can really help temporarily. Drink lots of fluids.

But, if you actually have a sinus infection the best way to get healthy in a timely fashion is to take a decongestant and see your doctor about an antibiotic. The first things I listed will help with the symptoms, but medicine will deal with the cause.

Q: What are some fast ways to get rid of a sinus headache?
I have had a big sinus headache all day. I have took tylenol and a sinus rinse. Are there any good fast acting ways to get rid of my headache?
I kind of already drink coffee regularly anyways so I’m not sure if that makes a difference

A: If you’re diagnosed with sinusitis, your doctor may recommend antibiotics. Be sure to finish the entire course of medication you are prescribed- even if your signs and symptoms disappear before all the pills or capsules are gone. This is the only way to eradicate the germs causing the infection. If the sinusitis is related to inflammation or allergies, your doctor may prescribe corticosteroid nasal sprays or pills.

As the sinus infection clears up, the sinus headaches should disappear. In the meantime, over-the-counter pain relievers, decongestants and saline nasal spray might help you feel better. Use these products only as directed. It may help to drink plenty of fluids as well.

If a structural problem in your nasal cavity is contributing to sinusitis or sinus headaches, surgical correction may be recommended.

Q: Can a sinus headache just randomly cause nausea?
I’ve had a splitting headache for a few hours, and now I’m feeling very nauseous.

I believe this is a sinus related headache, because I’ve had mild cold symptoms today. . . Have you ever experienced nausea with a sinus headache?

A: Yes it can. Headaches cause nausea on their own, but sinus headaches are caused by a buildup of pressure in the sinus cavities combined with swelling, inflammation, and occasionally infection. If the pressure in the sinus cavities gets great enough to cause pressure on the blood vessels and nerves to the brain, or worse, in the brain itself, nausea is sure to follow. Even without this, the other causes of sinus headaches are prime causes for nausea. Additionally, when a person has sinusitis, they require more fluid than normal, but tend to consume less. Thus, the resulting dehydration may lead to further nausea.

Because you are not entirely sure that this is caused by sinusitis, it is equally possible that you are developing the flu. In either case, you should be proactive. Take a steam bath to clear out and open your sinus cavities, and remove excess mucous before it helps to build an infection. You may want to take a de-congestant like Musinex DM or Sudafed D. If you develop a fever, or stay sick for more than a week, go to see a doctor, you may have developed an infection, or caught the flu.

Q: What can I do to heal a Sinus Headache without taking antibiotics?
I am not fond of taking any antibiotics as I feel that the natural approach to healing is always much better…..I have had a sinus headache for about 24 hours. I have had some major relief from breathing in steam, but is there anything I can take naturally to further help the healing process? Thanks in advance for your answers.

A: Take an over the counter decongestant. I like Sudafed (little, red pills) they help sooo much. Also try using a neti pot to rinse your sinuses. (I just use a cup) but basically you mix salt into warm water and inhale it into your nostrils and then let it run out. I do it in the shower. This helps if you have mucus but if your sinuses are just swollen then get a decongestant.

Antibiotics only help if you have a sinus infection…which occurs most frequently about 2 weeks after the start of a cold.

Q: How can you get rid of a sinus headache?
How can you get rid of or help alleviate a sinus headache when you have no sinus medicine?

A: boil water and put a towel over your head over the boiling water. breathe in the vapors. it will clear you right up…

Q: What is the best thing to do for a sinus headache other than taking medicine?
I took sudafed sinus headache an hour ago and can’t take more for at least three hours. It is extremely painful and I can’t fall asleep. I am also 15 weeks pregnant so my options are limited. Are there any foods that will help or anything at all? I can’t go to a doctor until tomorrow.

A: Hot shower or just fill your sink up with hot water and hold your face in the steam – w/o burning yourself. Also. try spicy foods this can help get the sinus’ moving along. Ice packs or heating pad — everyone’s different, whichever gives you relief. If it’s cold where you are go outside for a short walk sometime the cold air can clear up your sinus’ too.

Q: Severe sinus headache and now coughing is making it unbearable. Is this worth a trip to the ER on a Saturday?
I’ve got a raging headache, no fever or vomiting and thinks it’s sinus related. Have had it off and on for one week. My ears are popping and now I’m coughing. My neck hurts and the coughing is making the headache unbearable. I can’t function normally. It’s Saturday and don’t know if the ER room is the right choice. My doctor on call can’t help with any meds. Help!

A: If you can type on a computer then it doesn’t sound like it’s bad enough to warrant a trip to the ER. In the ER you will wait in a poorly lit, loud and crowded waiting room for a long time and it will cost a ton. You won’t get priority treatment with a headache, unless you faint or seize, so everyone who comes in after you that looks or sounds worse than ‘headache’ will get treated before you until you give up or they have some spare time. I come from a family of migraine sufferers with headaches that range from bad to where we just sleep for an entire day to the other end where it turned out to be a mild stroke… So I have some experience with what a bad nasty headache is, what is about to turn into an actual migraine and what is just a headache.
How about a trip to a Primacare (one of those chain clinics that are open late and on weekends)? You sound like maybe you need some kind of anti-inflammatory like a one-time celebrex dose or even a cortisone shot if it is really bad.

If I were you, I would darken my room (cover the windows and turn out all lights in adjacent rooms), make it as quiet as possible and sleep off the headache as best as you can. Sleep is the best treatment you can give yourself when a nasty headache hits.

Q: What is a good home remedy for a pulsating sinus headache ?
I took some Sudafed for sinus headache and a few hours later I still have the sinus headache.

A: Hi, my name is Ravishankar & I’m from India. I’m a qualified practicing Yoga Therpaist & Acupuncturist. I also practice the Ayurvedic Pulse Diagnosis.

To answer your problem, I may have to ask you certain question which will be related to your symptoms only.
Our science allows asking questions to arrive at the cause of symptoms, which can eliminate the symptoms for a long time to come. You may choose not to answer, but that may prevent me from diagnosing the problem.

1. To avoid this pain, you need to alter the way you eat & drink. Stop drinking water with food. This will automatically help in increasing the digestive power in your stomach, improve the quality of your digestive enzymes & provide proper nutrition to the body. you can drink water 1/2 an hour after you have consumed your food.

2. Sinus headaches usually occur because of the accumulation of mucus in the sinus cavities, under the cheeks, i nside the forehead, & also in the stomach & intestines. When yuo drink water with food, the enzymes that are present in the stomach get diluted & loose their effenciency to break down food. They then start travelling towards the intestines as a natural route.

the intestines, as a defence mechanism, produce more mucus than there is to protect heir walls from erosion from the acid inflow. this extra mucus naturally starts travelling up to the lungs & Sinus pockets & troubles you.

Boil 1 tsp of Licorice powder in 100 ml of water. Take the kettle off the stove. Pour 10 drops of clarified butter into it. Sip it slowly. you will have to take a few sips, once every 10 minutes, 6 times in a row. Do this for 3 days & watch your Sinus disappear. It is good to consume it especially after food.

Also, you can boil 2 tsps. of Fenugreek seeds in water. Add 2 pinches of Turmeric powder & inhale the fumes when the water starts to boil. Do not go too close to the kettle or you may burn your nose or your cheeks. Do this for 2 days.

There are certain other necessary precautions you may adopt to keep yourself from further Sinus attacks. they are;

2. Try to avoid eating & working at the same time. Also, while eating, do not talk or watch TV. Try to concentrate on your food, chew properly.
3. Try to sit down for 10 minutes after food. Let the digestive process begin.
4. Try to avoid eating late or sleeping late at night. Give a 2 hour gap between the last intake of food & sleep.
5. have a warm shower at least 45 minutes before you retire to bed.

It happens everytime I have a fan blowing on me, and it’s a horrible sinus headache and sometimes drainage. Why does this happen?

if you need to have the fan on you are going to have to clean the fan at least every week

Q: How can I get this sinus headache to go away?
I am using Sinus Buster nose spray, which usually works. I have had this headache since Friday night. People always tell me to use a saline sinus wash, but I have tried that. It makes my nose burn and I can’t stop coughing, when I use that. I am taking Sudafed and Tylenol.

A: i had good results when my doctor wrote me Allegra-D.
but as the doc will tell you, you cant just abruptly stop taking it once you start.

And yeah.
:) Hope I helped and get better soon
Also some of this may help?

1. Feel the top ridge of your eye socket under the eyebrow. You will discover a small groove in your skull about the center of the top of the eye socket. In this groove is a nerve which is very sensitive to pressure. If you compress this nerve, it will be very painful. However, the pain will stimulate the pituitary to release endorphins immediately. The endorphins are the body’s own natural painkillers and are more powerful than morphine. To stimulate the nerve, push hard against it for about 10 seconds.
2. A similar method for releasing endorphins is to take a couple teaspoons of cayenne pepper in a glass of water. This is not harmful. When the cayenne hits the stomach lining, endorphins will be released by the brain to stop the pain.
3. Put a cold rag on your neck or forehead. Many headaches are caused by tense neck muscles. Conversely, use a moist hot pack to loosen up tense muscles – see which works best for you.
4. Massage the ears and ear lobes as well as the neck. If you can, find two tennis balls or raquette balls and put them in a sock. Lay on a flat surface and place the two balls just below the base of your skull on the occipital and relax. You may feel sinus pressure or minimal discomfort at first but it will go away. Lay in this position with the still point on the occipital for as long as needed. This is especially helpful for sinus headaches.
5. Similar in concept to the endorphin release – nerve stimulation through acupressure can offer some relief of symptoms. Search for “Do-in” or “acupressure” on the web.
6. *Reflexology – With one hand, massage the area between the thumb and forefinger on the other hand and hold. Use only as much pressure as you can tolerate and be sure to breath deeply and relax-this spot will probably be painful. Hold it until the pain level reduces significantly and repeat with more pressure. Do this on both hands and repeat as needed.

And so you dont hurt yourself here :) Warnings

* Overdosing with Tylenol is highly toxic to the liver. No more than 2 in a four hour period! Taking Tylenol with alcohol greatly increases the danger to the liver.
* Behind the sternocleidomastoid is the carotid artery and vagus nerve. Pinching these off can cause faintness or even brain damage by disturbing blood flow to the brain. If you feel faint, dizzy, or nauseated while working on that muscle, stop immediately and lie down for several minutes.

Q: Headache & nausea?
I work cleaning rooms so I use alot of chemicalls. At my work, there’s a leaking natural gas pipe. I’m a type one diabetic who got a headache after a low bloodsugar and my bloodsugar is now at a good level. I went for a bikeride. When I drank water the headache got worse and is now acompanied by nausea and fatigue. I’m not at work anymore. I’ve never had a migrain. Why do I have such a terrible headache?

A: if the water was cold it could have to do with a sudden drop in body temp due to you being outside riding your bike in the heat

Q: Headache and nausea before my period what can I do?
For over a year the night before i start my period i get bad cramps, headache, nausea, gas. I’ve tried changing birth control pills. nothing has worked. what can I do?

A: It is all the PMS (Pre Menustral syndromes) and generally most of the women expereince this.

We get cramps because the lining of the uterus releases a substance called prostaglandins. This causes contractions often causes the uterus to go into spasms, which is what causes pain, and may even lead to lightheadedness, dizziness and nausea. Menstrual cramps begin after you have started your period, while pre-menstrual syndrome or PMS starts a few days before your period, and includes mood swings, bloating, nausea, headache and a general feeling of unease and irritability.

What you can do to escape from this – Here are some tips -

Walking -
It may be impossible to walk when you are in the throes of pain, but before the pain begins, it helps if you have been walking around or doing some light exercise. Walking improves circulation to the pelvic organs and reduces muscle tension. Try doing light stretches when the cramps strike. If you are physically fit and exercise regularly, you are less likely to suffer painful periods. This is very important.

Acupressure -
Try applying pressure to the area between the bones between your big toe and the second toe, which is just around a cm below the two toes. This acupressure point is known as Liver 3. Applying pressure here relives menstrual discomfort.

Tea -
Drink a glass of warm water with a teaspoon of turmeric powder (haldi), or ginger tea. These relax uterine muscles and relieve cramping. Similarly, chamomile or mint tea also help reduce pain.

Hot water bottle -
Lie down and place a hot water bottle on your stomach, back or legs, whatever gives you the most relief.

Massage -
If your back hurts during your period, massaging it with eucalyptus oil can be very effective. Similarly, massaging your back, stomach, legs or any body part that hurts with a lotion that contains chamomile or with evening primrose oil can be very effective.

Pill -
The Pill may be a good birth control option for women suffering from severe menstrual cramps, as women on the pill rarely suffer from cramps. But when you get off the pill the cramps return with the same intensity as earlier.

Caffeine -
Cut down your caffeine intake. Too much caffeine can aggravate not just menstrual cramping, but also menopausal hot flashes.

Bath -
Soak yourself in a warm bath for around fifteen minutes. If you don’t have the time to do this, when you do shower, make sure you shower with warm water. Avoid taking a cold shower, as it will aggravate the pain. Similarly, some women report having severe cramps on days they washed their hair so avoid washing your hair on the days of your period that are the most painful for you.

Sex -
If you are susceptible to urinary infections, don’t have sex during your period. The cervix – the opening to the uterus, widens during menstruation, to help blood and uterine tissue flow out. This widening leaves the uterus more vulnerable to infection -

I think these will give you relief- Best wishes. -

Q: when I work underneath a car or sink I get headache, nausea and sweating. Why would this happen?
when I lie down underneath my car to fix it I get a headache, nausea, and sweating. Even when I lie down under a sink to fix it, this happens .Why does this happen? What can I do to prevent this? thank you.

A: Is it only when you lie down to do these activities? Have you noticed that the way you lie down is different when doing these things compared to other things that cause you to lie down? How is your blood pressure btw and have you ever had your thyroid checked out?

Q: I have a headache with nausea, being off balance and leg weakness. Any ideas as to what this may be?
I have had a constant headache for about two weeks from the time I wake up until I go to sleep. I have a hard time sleeping at night and during the day I have this feeling of nausea, my legs feel week, and I am off balance. Does anyone know what this may be?

A: Headache is a pain in the head, scalp or
neck. Headaches can becaused by minor problems like
eyestrain, lack of coffee or moreserious reasons like
head injury, brain tumors, encephalitis andmeningitis.
Taking painkillers continuously can have harmful side
effects, so it is better to modify your lifestyle. More information

Q: What causes severe headache and subsequent nausea?
I am more interested in the medical aspect, what really happens in my body to create this pain. And why does nausea and vomiting come into the picture?

Suffered a splitting headache yesterday which I suspect originated from dehydration after a gym class, but even though I drank loads of water afterwards, the head ache only got worse and I started feeling sick. The headache actually escalated after a few hours. If dehydration was the cause, why didn’t drinking water help?

Thanks for serious answers.

A: Check out http://www.webmd.com

Q: If I have migrain headaches is it possible for the nausea to still accompany the headache no matter how mild?
the pain is and can I still get naueas in between the headaches? Can the nausea last after the headache is gone? Or could I have a stomach flu? Could the stomach flu last for more then a week? Or is it just stress?

A: hi there.. it seems that you need to undergo a general checkup.. just to see if there is something wrong with yourself.. our body is like an engine that needs constant maintenance… the more we neglect to undergo our yearly checkup.. the more it’ll be prone to illness or whatever symptoms… my advice.. please undergo a general check up or an executive checkup…

Q: Is it possible to have nausea, vomiting and headache 10 days after having several teeth pulled?
I had several teeth pulled over 10 days ago and am still having nausea, vomiting and headache. Seven days after the extractions I ended up in the hospital over night dehydrated and my potassium was very low. That was three days ago and I am still sick. I am not taking any pain pills or antibiotics and there is no infection.

A: Possibly a reaction to the anesthetic. You should have been taking an antiemetic. Try Emetrol and take something for the headache. Also report this to your oral surgeon on Monday.

Q: I have severe upper neck pain with a headache and nausea. What can I do to relive my symptoms?
It all started after I fell asleep in the car and kinked my neck. Now I can’t hold my neck up for more then 5 min with out getting a penalizing headache and getting sick to my stomach. If I’m still it will go away but comes back as soon as I start moving….help what can I do?

A: You may want to use this link,, it’s easy, free and really good.

Q: What’s wrong with me? Headache, nausea for days off and on, very hard to handle. What do you think is up?
How I feel is like when you get motion sickness when you are on a theme park ride or when you are in a car for a long period of time but it has been happening off and on for days. Help!

A: It sounds like you might have vertigo…here’s some info:

http://www.emedicinehealth.com/vertigo/article_em.htm

Q: Headache, Sore Throat, Nausea and 32 weeks pregnant, What do I do?
I’m currently 32 weeks pregnant. I just started getting a sore throat, headache, and minor nausea since this morning. I’ve taken Tylenol and it doesn’t help anything. I believe that soon a fever is going to come because I’m starting to get the muscle aches and the dizziness. What should I do?

A: Call your doctor asap. Any kind of sickness you have your baby has too. Its always better to be safe than sorry.

Q: Stomach and Back cramps, nausea, headache, very tired. I had my period for 3 days but very light what is it?
OK last night I had terrible back and stomach crapms. This morning nausea, headache, just “bad” feeling” anyone have any idea what this could be? There is a chance I could be prego (getting married next month yay) but just got off my perion (well all 3 days of it)
No, this is not normal for me @ all. I never feel bad during my period.

A: You could be prego.. but the nausea symptoms don’t start till after 4-6 weeks of being prego. Is this something that happens often before or after your period? You should add more detail to the question. But if I were you I just get a pregnancy test just to make sure, and if that’s not it then it was just your period causing that. I symptoms like that during my period.

Q: What perfume gets you sick you know nausea, headache, and a funny feeling on your tongue?
Women’s Escape all symtems mentioned.

A: escape does that to me as well……. on mothers day my boys took me to the zoo, we had not been there in years, and this woman, had escape on and it seems we could not get away from her! it just reeked!my head starting pounding, my mouth was so dry, my eyes started to water it was awful….. finally we got out of route of her and if she thought she smelled nice…. i would have put her in the cage with the other animals it was that bad!!!!!

Q: Why do some perfumes cause headache, nausea and even sudden paleness to me while others seem to?
love them.
Isn’t that weird

A: The same thing happens to me. I think it’s because of the chemicals that they use to create the different scents. Different scents are created using different chemicals, and I think some people are sensitive to some of those chemicals. I’ve noticed that flowery scents give me headaches, but citrus scents don’t. I figure they’re going to use some different chemicals making flowery scents than when they make citrus scents.

Q: i have had Headache and nausea for a few days now?
just a bearable headache and nausea, both last throughout the day but are more bothering from mid afternoon to late night
could it be a brain tumour?

A: chronic headache : )
nothing too serious

Q: Headache Relief?
I have had this headache for three weeks on/off but its throughout the day, everyday-I take tylenol, advil, everything. Nothing even touches it. So I started taking double doses and even that isn’t relieving my pain. I have tried all I can think of…I don’t really want to go to the doc, I am just wondering what are some home remedy ideas for relief?!

A: Are your neck and shoulders really tense and knotted up? When I’m really stressed, my muscles there bunch up and I get headaches until I can loosen them. If that’s whats happening to you try a few things:

Take a really hot shower, letting the water concentrate on your neck and shoulders. Try to stretch the muscles and massage them. Put a heating pad on that area while watching tv or relaxing. Usually this helps me, even when meds dont.

Q: Headache relief?????
So i’ve had a headache for like a month, and i’ve taken tylenol and advil and all sorts of different types of drugs but i know that taking too many is really bad for your stomach. Does any one know any ways to relieve headaches that IS NOT taking pain relief tablets?

Please, no smart a** answers like “take tylenol”
Also, I have been to the doctor this past summer for the same thing, and he stuck some freezing in the back of my head and told me to push on the back of my head to make it go away… but it doesn’t work.
also… that does not mean that i have been taking different types of drugs TOGETHER. :P

A: If you have truly had a headache for a month straight, I’d advise you to seek medical help. I am only mentioning this to err on the side of caution. Many medical issues arise when your symptom is sustained headache for long periods of time.. such as a brain tumor, brain cancer, chemical imbalance, fluid retention in the brain (hydrocephalus), or a weak or bulging blood vessel about to go or meningitis. So if it has REALLY been that long.. seek medical care asap.

Take it from someone who is a migraine sufferer… long term headaches hurt like heck. I can tell you alllll about the prescription meds if you want.. just email me and I’ll give you a run down on what I know about them. However, you wanted info on NOT taking any medication..

I can ease my migraines away by doing simple things. First, I stuff tissue paper in my ears. I discovered that the ’sound’ of air rushing by my head is amplified when I have a pounding head. This seems to alleviate at least the pounding. Don’t use ear plugs… they cause too much pressure in your ear drum (or at least it was for me). Good ole’ toilet paper stuffed in makes a world of difference to me.

Secondly.. if you smoke.. don’t. At least while you have a headache. It constricts your blood vessels and of course makes your head feel worse.

Some people say a huge dose of caffeine. It works for some. Not me. But I have taken prescription pain relief that had caffeine as a main ingredient. It dialates the blood vessels so it keeps your head from pounding too much.

Last resort…….. stuff your ears like I said… stay out of bright lights.. and go to bed.

If you are having continous headaches all the time, see your doctor. There are a lot of preventative non-steroidal meds that can help.

I’ve been a major migraine sufferer (head migraines AND optical migraines) for 15 years and have finally found relief by a prescription epilepsy medicine for prevention and shots for pain. Soooo.. it could be worse.

I can tell you one of the major tricks of not getting a headache that bad is to catch it as it is about to happen. Even if it is just a twinge.. take something. It’ll keep it from coming. I know you didn’t want to take anything, but my suggestion is 2 aleve.. stuff the ears and go to bed. I have found Aleve to be the best for over the counter headaches.. not tylenol.

Do email me if you want some info on the whole headache drug issue before seeing a doctor. I’ll give you the low-down so you can ask your doctor all about them. In the meantime, I hope you find some relief.

*hugs*

Q: headache relief?
i have a bad headache no pain killers or ne thing what can i do to relieve the pain and go to bed ?

A: Drink lots of water and massage you temples. Keep your eyes closed and hum softly while you do it. It gives you a sence of peace and massageing your temples relaxes you so that you are not tense and this helps headaches go away. This is what I do because i hate swallowing pills. Hope i could help ya!

Goodluck!

Q: What herbal teas should i try if i like Oolong tea to get stress relief and headache relief?
I LOVE Oolong tea, but i would like to start trying some herbal teas…mainly to get the healing affects of the different herbs for different things, like stress relief, or headache relief. What would you suggest for a good herbal tea to start off with?

A: Sure chamomile tea or valerian tea is really good for thier calming effects and stress relief. For mild headache relief try some rosemary tea. Really bad headache relief white willow bark made into a tea with some green tea added for caffiene to make it work faster. If you have migraines your just screwed unless you have some opium poppy tea.

Q: What can you take for headache relief while pregnant?
I’ve got a mild but existent headache. I normally take excedrin but was told by my doc to NOT take any. What can or should I take instead?

Any other med’s to not take?

A: Tylenol is safe to take,

Check out this website for what is safe and what is not!! Hope it helps!

Q: What is good for instant headache relief?
I have this pounding headache from the day before still and wanted to know what over the counter pain reliever can cut it so I can go on with my day. The on will get the points!!!!

A: I am an alternative medicinal therapist and an ex nurse. I used to suffer from these everyday for years. I now take Feverfew capsules, they take a time to get into the system but they have been proven to be the best thing out. Your problem at the moment needs solving now, so I have found the best thing that works is NUROFEN PLUS. They contain codeine and Ibuprofen. I don’t normally recommend them because they can harm the stomach wall, so eat something before you take them
Try placing an ice pack behind your neck, it may be that your STERNOMASTOID muscle is inflamed, I suffer from this and it always works. Also Lavender oil on a hanky and inhaled also helps.

If you need any more help contact me on alternative@medicine123.wanadoo.co.uk but please give me your full e mail address as it is not easy to contact you on yahoo answers.

Q: Can someone help with headache relief please?
I’m a not so healthy 32 yr old male. I get severe headaches that make me want to jump out a window. I’ve learned over the years that certain foods, exercise, drinking(only sometimes) all bring on a headache. My main concern is that no matter how bad the headache is it gets even worse if i lay down. Is this something to be concerned with? I don’t take any OTC meds because they just don’t work. What can I do short of beheading myself to stop this?

A: Turn all the light off, sit in a darkened corner, put on noise canceling headphones if you can’t get a quiet spot. I’d take a little bit of the OTC anyway, it might dull something that isn’t as bad but still on the pile of stress for you.

If you normally have things with caffeine in them, keep the caffeine level the same. Fluxes in caffeine can make them even worse. (at least they do with mine.)

You can check out the webmd site, but you probably know all of it.
http://women.webmd.com/guide/migraines-headaches-migraines

I would see a doctor though, they can try some not over the counter stuff and see if one will work for you. Track how often you get them and how long they last, and take the list into the doctor with you. Depending on frequency they might give you something at first sign or something to just keep them away.

Q: what is a good headache relief without drugs?
what is a good headache relief without drugs? it weird i know but i cant take drugs any unless i ask my doctor and i have to make an appoinment. would like to know if any one knows of a home remedy ot a tea. please help

A: A lot of headaches are caused by simply being dehydrated. Try a glass of water, resting in a darkened room and rubbing a smear of lavender oil on your temples.

Q: Any suggestion on headache relief that is not oral besides head-on?
My 10 year old has a severe headache but is also vomiting. She threw up the medicine. Anything else I can do for her to relieve her headache. Laying down in a quiet room with a cold cloth is not helping either. Thanks!
Her problem is hen she doesn’t eat often enough, she gets these headaches and sometimes she vomits. I have already talked to my Docter and he said just ake sure she snacks often. She was over a friends house and forgot to snack.

A: I think you should call her doctor. A headache that is bad enough to make you vomit needs to be looked at.

Q: very good natural herbal extract for getting relief from headache and other small illness without side effects?
Hello people,
somebody please help me to get a very good natural herbal extract for getting relief from headache, pain and other small illness without side effects. I have been using some local brands, but now i feel its not having any effects on my headache, etc. So i like to purchase a good natural herbal extract preferably it can be purchased online, Thank you. I’m waiting for your reply.

A: Herbs such as Cayenne (Capsicum frutescens/Capsicum spp.), Peppermint (Mentha x piperita,) Dong quai (Angelica sinensis), Devil’s claw (Harpagophytum procumbens) and Ginkgo biloba (Ginkgo biloba) can be extremely beneficial in helping to soothe pounding headaches. In addition, studies have suggested that the herb Feverfew, when used regularly, can help to eliminate or greatly reduce the frequency and severity of headaches and migraines.

You may get details on these remedies over here http://www.healthherbsandnutrition.com/products/headachesoothe.htm and http://www.healthherbsandnutrition.com/products/migoneplus.htm and http://www.all4naturalhealth.com/herb-for-headaches.html

Q: Any suggestions for headache relief when pregnant?
I am 10 weeks pregnant and I have the never ending headache! I have takenTylenol and tried ice packs, wrapping my head with a towel, sleeping masks. My dr says that I have to wait it out at this point but it is just becoming so hard to think, drive and function. Any advise please!!

A: I tried eating some fruits. They relieve my headaches somewhat, then I take a tylenol soon afterwards to soothe it further. Then a nap is good. Yep…a good ole nap!

Q: if i take a homeopathic headache relief and it doesnt seem to work can i take regular medicine?
even if the homeopathic stuff hasn’t worn off yet?
it’s hyland’s migraine relief
says its natural
says its natural
i wanted to take some rapid release tylenol with it

A: Yes. The best thing about homeopathic medicine is that it doesn’t need time to wear off.

Q: Migraine headache relief, how can it be done?
Does anyone know how you can get some migraine headache relief? Thanks for the help everyone!

A: Well make sure you are not drinking too much caffeine as that can cause a migraine. I am not expert but there is a site that deals with it in my source which may can help you. I sure hope it does!

Q: can i take allergy relief and a headache relief?
and some cough drops ? im sick right now and i have a bad headache and my throat hurts. its allergy season for me right now. please respnd fast i cant take my bad headache any much longer.

A: Yes, you can take both meds at the same time but I would only take one of each to start to make sure you don’t have a bad reaction to them. You should not have any reaction but some people do. As far as your headache, take a pain reliever then put an icepack on your head where it hurts the most. Wrap it in a thin cloth (dish towel works good) and hold it on your head where it hurts the most for 15-20 minutes. That will constrict the blood vessels and the headache will feel better. I’ve had headaches all my life and I do this all the time. Just stay quiet while you are holding the ice on your head and stay quiet for a while after it goes away or it will come right back. You can use the ice every hour for 15-20 minutes until your head stops hurting. It only takes once for me.

Q: Headache symptoms?
I’ve never been one to have bad headaches, but lately I’ve had several exteme ones with some weird symptoms. Within the last 2.5 months, I’ve had probably just two extemely painful headaches, with no other real symptoms and two which started with my right eye doing something funny, almost as if there were a glare and I couldn’t see quite properly. The headache at this point wasn’t so bad, but then I was talking and it was as if I couldn’t for sentences and words properly without thinking really hard about what I was saying…it was a little scary. I knew what I wanted to say, the words just didn’t come out right. Those two things lasted probably 15 minutes with only a mild headache, then the headache became worse and I slept it off. Anyway, I don’t know what to contribute it to…stress, maybe caffeine (I have like 1 latte usually a day), I don’t know…I think if it happens again I will go to the doctor, but I thought I would ask if anyone had experienced similar symptoms. Thanks

A: It sounds like you are having migraines. They are very painful. You should make an appointment to see your doctor. The doctor will most likely refer you to a neurologist.

Check out Webmd.com and wikipedia.com both sites have pretty good explanations of migraines and a lot of information on treatments.

Q: Headache Symptoms?
What type of headache is it when the symptoms are right across the front of the forehead & seems to come the same time each day?

A: what is the character of the pain? is it pulsating? how painful, in a scale of 1-10 ten being the highest? since when did u have this? is it associated with colds?

firstly, it could be frontal sinusitis. is it painful when apply pressure on the forehead? if it is, then most probably it is indeed sinusitis. have a decongestant and antibiotics. decongestant if u have a stuffy nose because sinusitis is very related to allergic rhinitis (modern term for sinusitis is now rhinosinusitis). and antibiotics for the infection that might ensue, both prophylactic and therapeutic.

or it could be sluder’s syndrome. management is antiinflammatories to nasal surgery. depends on the severity and type.

tension type headache could also be one. relax, have ur BP checked.

try mefenamic acid. if it wont eradicate the pain, it is best to consult your doctor. self medicate once, but if i doesnt work, see a doctor. get well! goodluck!

Q: What are the follow symptoms? numbness in my hand and feet, throbing sensation inmy ear and headache.?
I am diabetic and recently after a long wait for the bus under the snow i noticed that i started having numbness in my hands and feet, i have some kind of blank, throbbing sensation in my ear coupled with headache. These symptoms were very prominent in the right side of my body?…. Can someone help me because i am really worried since someone told me that it may be symptoms of somthing serious and i am only in my mid twenties.

A: They are symptoms of your diabetic condition…you need to see your doctor. You really want to stay pro active with your diabetes ..your doctor will have good advice for you. Good luck..make and appointment! ♥

Q: At what week in pregnancy do the headache symptoms start?
Do they the headaches start at about 5-6-7 weeks in early pregnancy? & whats it caused by. . . .

A: Experiencing headaches during pregnancy is one of the most common discomforts and complaints. Headaches may occur at any time during your pregnancy, but they tend to be most common during the first and third trimesters.

An increase in headaches during the first trimester is believed to be caused by the surge of hormones along with an increase in the blood volume circulating throughout your body. These headaches may be further aggravated by stress, poor posture or changes in your vision.

Headaches during the third trimester tend to be related more to poor posture and tension from carrying extra weight. Headaches during the third trimester may also be caused by a condition called preeclampsia, which is high blood pressure during pregnancy.

If you are not able to prevent headaches, there are still things that you can do to help them go away. During pregnancy, you want to try and relieve your headache by natural means if possible. Pain relief medications such as aspirin and ibuprofen are not recommended in most pregnancies; however, acetaminophen may be reccommended by your health care provider

Q: what are these headache symptoms caused from?
my head hurts for two weeks. my nose just started to feel stuffed up but only in the mornings when i wake up. and my head and temples are aching. i always have pressure in my head. they are on and off and sometimes i get back pain and neck pain. and also ear pain like a shooting pain every once in a while. what could be wrong?

A: bad thoughts

Q: Weird symptoms like headache, chest pains and arm tingling?
These weird symptoms have been going on for 3 days now and it’s not getting any better. I’ve been to the doctors twice this week and I’ve been to the hospital but they couldn’t find anything wrong with me. They assume its anxiety but even when I’m calm I still feel this terrible weird headache and my arms just feel like theres something crawling underneath. Plus I get weird chest pains like my heart is heavy. It’s scaring me.

A: Sometimes severe anxiety attacks can feel to a person like a heart attack. It’s really not anything completely serious. Your symptoms increase when you panic about the “condition”.

Take some deep breaths, eat well and make sure to get plenty of sleep. For your headaches, try some tylenol. Nothing with caffeine, because this can make the symptoms worse.

Q: What is the cause of these symptoms: headache, fever, moody or anguish, pain on the Right rib town to the waist?
The rib and waist pain is mostly felt when sitting still, e.g like when in a car or so when there is no free movement. i feel disturbed and uncomfortable as if a hand is is inserted through ma rib and pulling ma intestine, liver or kidney.

A: it could be appendicitis. u shud definitely go c ur doctor so they could run sum tests on u. but since u complained of a fever it must be some sort of infection not necessarily ur appendix, but can be ur intestine or kidney. u have to go to the doctor asap if ur condition persists or worsens. good luck

Q: What is blood shot eyes and a headache symptoms of?
No, I’m not hungover, I’m serious! I’m getting enough sleep, etc.

A: Do you drink too much soda, not enough water…?? Sounds like dehydration, which is actually what a hangover is, but you don’t have to have been drunk to be dehydrated. If your body is’nt getting enough water, then you’ll suffer those symptoms. Try drinking a few full glasses of water and see if it helps.
If that does’nt work, then maybe you need glasses, eye strain can cause those symptoms as well.

Q: What can I buy at the drugstore for; symptoms headache, body ache, coughing.,chills?
slight fever?…I have a Dr.’s appointment next week…I don’t want to go to the ER because It get’s too expensive even with my insurance..
I wish I could go home but my job has a new attendance policy which sux its very strict and i NEED TO save my vacation time for the summer..

A: Maybe you should go vomit on your boss’s desk! What a crumby leave policy!

If you have the flu, making the diagnosis in the first 48 hours is important because you can take antiviral medicines to shorten the course of the illness. Otherwise, a combination cold or flu medicine would probably be helpful. Many of these products have tylenol or motrin in them, which is likely to be the most effective ingredient. Drink lots of water.

Q: what do dizziness and headache look like to ensure they are HIV symptoms?
How long do dizziness and headache take to ensure they are HIV symptoms?
I am now living very far from the town, no blood testing service at the place where i am living. That’s why i would like to know how long do dizziness and headache and together with a cough take to ensure they are opportunistic disease or HIV symptoms.

A: First ask yourself these ?’s……..Have you exposed yourself to anyone that has the vrus? How long ago was that? the best thing to do is go get tested……..

some people live 10 years with no symptoms, others live and die in 6 months………

You usually wont have symptoms for a little while after being exposed, unless you already have a poor immune system…

Q: I have cold symptoms and severe headache caused by detoxification and want to know how long it will last?
I’ve been on a detox diet for a week now and i heard the symptoms of detoxification are bad, but mine are real uncomfortable. i want to know how long to expect these symptoms for.

A: Good luck with your detoxification. It will last as long as you have anything in your system. It usually takes a few weeks to be really cleansed. Hang in there. It will get better.

Q: I have symptoms of persistent headache & swollen throat with white marks in back in throat. What do I have?
I will go to ER tomorrow if symptoms do not subside. Started Friday mild and got worse all of yesterday. It is difficult to swallow. What can I do to make it go away?
I also feel sleepy all day.
Does my intake warm foods like soup and liquids like hot tea help or hurt my problem?

A: sounds like toncilitis to me you are going to need antibiotics to clear that up

Q: What would the sickness be for these symptoms? Sore throat, chills, fever, mild headache, a little dizziness?
What would the sickness be for these symptoms?
My daughter is 12 years old. It began with a sore and rough throat.
She now is experiencing chills, fever, mild headache, and a little dizziness.
I am guessing flu, or strep throat?

A: Yep….somewhere up that alley. There are always weird germs going around so go buy that aloe vera plant and give it to her. I know it is disgustingly nasty but it will definately defend her from these germs out here, in addition to strengthen her immune system. Also alot of healthy soup involving peas

Q: Tension Headache?
Tension Headaches?
Can tension headaches happen after all of the stressful days and tension have dissapeared for a while, b/c i think i have a tension headache right now. It is a mild pain that seems to be around my head and it doesn’t affect my day to day activities and i have been having it for about 3 days now. But all of my stress has been from school and that was about 2 weeks ago. i had 3 tests and an assignment due in a span of 3 days. So are these tension headaches that i am having.

Additional Details

Could this also be because i am worrying about my headeache being a more serious thing than it actually is. B/c i went to the doctor after my exams in January and he said that it was just tension and when he went to take my blood pressure it was a little high and when my dad and i went to the drugstore to get the pills (about 20 mins after the appointment) that he prescribed i took my blood pressure and it was back down to normal. It is just that i am always thinking tha

A: Go to the store and buy you some tension medicine. And if you are really stressed get you some nerve tonic. That really helps me. I worry about alot. It is all natural it will not hurt you. Me and My mother take it and my mom said that at walmart they can’t keep it on the shelf. Hope everything works out for you. It will get better I promise.

Q: tension headache?
i had a tension headache real bad he whole day yesterday. i went to the emergency room and they give me two shots and it made it better the rest of the night. but this morning i woke up and it is a mild pain and there is a little knot on the back of my neck. do i need to go back?

A: A good massage would help relax the muscles and relieve the headache. See if you can get a massage today. Also a doctor of chiropractic medicine can help reduce the stress in the muscles and relieve the pain.

Q: How do you get rid of a tension headache?
I have this horrible tension headache but there are few meds I can take. I had a reaction to Excedrin tension headache and there are many cold medicines that don’t react well. Unfortunately, I don’t know until my ears swell up and turn numb while my body itches with hives and I have to go the er once again.

A: Try Head-On. I bought it as a fluke & was amazed at how well it works. You can also try Active-On. Rub it on the back of your neck & your shoulder blades. Amazing!

Don’t dwell on the tension. Worrying and/or getting upset about the fact that tension affects you only makes it worse. When you notice it smear on the Head/Active-On, shut your eyes & go away for a few minutes. Imagine you’re on a beach or walking your dog or buying a new purse — whatever makes you happy.

Q: Is It possible to get a tension headache without any stress?
I get a pain that starts from the back of my head where my head and neck meet(back of my head and upper neck). Then it spreads from there to my forehead and it feels like its behind my eyes. This sounds like a tension headache to me but the headaches come when im just watching tv or in class listening to the teacher. I dont feel stressed when they come. What could this be?
ya thats true i used to have scoliosis

A: Yes, because tension in your neck creates the headache. This muscle tension can be aggravated by mental stress however most times it’s simply head and neck position.

If you had scoliosis, there most likely already is some shifts of the spine. This more easily causes nerve pressure and muscle imbalance, and in the upper neck can cause headache.

Students often get this from the neck strain of constantly looking down at books, reading, studying, writing. Those muscles at the base of the skull are called your occipitals and attach the skull to the 1st couple vertebrae.

When I was a full time student, I used to get very tight occipital muscles and would often get headaches.

To fix the problem I made sure to see a chiropractor periodically and I also studied and often read with a book upright against something like a bookend. If I was at the library I used to just grab one off of one of the book shelves.

Most helpful however was this pillow I use: http://www.tractionneckpillow.com

Q: How long does a tension headache last?
At least i think i have a tension headache. It has lasted for about 5 days and it hasn’t been very painful, it seems to be all around my head. it is not a severe pain it is just mild constant one, and it doesn’t get worse with physical activity and i have not been vomiting or nausiated. I was wondering if a tension headache can occur after all of the stress has been over like 2 weeks after. I am currently in grade 12 and i had 4 tests and an assignment due within 2 days 2 weeks ago, but my headache t seems to have gotten a little better today. any sugges. would help out alot.

A: these tension headaches last as long as you are under stress=they will leave when your stress level comes down

Q: the difference between an tension headache and an aneurysm?
Lately Ive been having constant headaches and pressure in my cheeks, nose and ears. Plus, there’s one spot in the back of my head that hurts off and on. last night it was hurting (yes, that one place in the back of my head) it comes off and on, but Im scared that it’s an aneurysm. is it just a tension headache? can it lead to an aneurysm? or am I just plain paranoid? plz let me know so I can tell my doctor on friday

A: An aneurysm is a ruptured blood vessel, it’s very dangerous.

I wouldn’t assume it’s an aneurysm. There are many possible causes of your headaches that aren’t so serious. It could be based on a sinus problem for example.

Q: Any way I can get rid of my tension headache?
Is there any way to get rid of a tension headache? Not just take medicine and numb the pain, I mean really get rid of it?

I’m not sure what’s causing it. It’s been hurtin like the last few days, off ‘n on. Im not sure but i think its from sore or tightened muscles in my neck because i sleep on the couch.

A: Get a massage and stop sleeping on the couch. To prevent future headaches try yoga or some other stretching program.

Q: Where do you usually feel pain when you have a tension headache?
I feel good but for a couple of days Ive been feeling like I have pressure on my neck, back, and shoulders. ( and a little bit in the back of my head) Its not a severe pain. And my left temple has been having a dull pain. I sleep great and like I said I feel ok. I feel some pressure on the top of my head. Is it a tension headache? What other symptoms go along with a tension heaache? And what relief can I give myself? Thanks!!!
One more thing, can tension headaches occur everyday? Ive had mine for 2 days. Not continuously, but its like I notice it sometimes then I dont. Is that common?

A: In general, a tension-type headache may cause diffuse (spread out, not in one place) pressure or tightness. Sometimes, muscles surrounding the head are tender. The pain may be on both sides of the head, or it may cause an aching or squeezing sensation located in the forehead, temples, or back of the head with radiation to the neck and shoulders. Pain is usually moderate in intensity, not severely disabling, and not associated with the typical symptoms of migraine, such as nausea, vomiting, or sensitivity to sound or light.
Doctors will suggest over-the-counter pain relievers such as aspirin, acetaminophen, and other NSAIDs. These provide relief for most people with tension-type headache. Frequent use of medications to treat symptoms of headache may actually cause episodic tension-type headache to become chronic in nature.
If you want a home remedy for headache use Chamomile Tea, it helps relaxing the muscles and a good aid for sleeping.

Q: How Do I Get Rid of a Tension Headache?
I need a new pillow– it happens just about every morning when I wake up. From right between my shoulder blades to midway up the back of my neck/head feels so tight. My husband tries to massage out the knots, but then they come back. I’ve tried Bayer Tension Headache Relief as well as ibuprophen, but the headache just comes back. And it seems to be related to my sinuses too. I’m having horrible allergies right now from all this stupid pollen. Other than buying a new pillow, any suggestions?

A: I wonder if you don’t have sinus headaches, as they feel like tension headaches too. Try a few things. Flip the mattress as it could be getting worn down. Try taking a sinus med. that you spray in your nose (like flonase). If it’s a sinus headache, the pain will start to go away within a day or so. Lastly take a hot bath at night and a hot shower in the morning so the heat can ease away the pain. If this isn’t possible get some of those little heating patches that you can buy. Stick it to the inside of your shirt and let it heat away the pain. Feel better soon.

Q: How to get rid of tension headache?
I am a college student and I have been under a lot of stress recently which leads to me having major tension headaches. I currently have a tension headache and I took Excedrin Tension and that helps a little bit but my neck and shoulders feel like they have knots in them and my upper back, in between my shoulder blades hurts.
No one is around right now to give me a massage so I need some advice. Help please :(
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I am sick of this damn headache :(

A: I’ve found ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil, etc.) to be the best over-the-counter pain killer for pain that comes from tense muscles. It seems to have mild muscle relaxant qualities, in a way that Tylenol (which is what’s in Excedrin) and aspirin just don’t. For a really bad tension headache, you’ll want to take about 800 mg of it — which is 4 of the usual 200 mg pills. Don’t worry: even though the box says only to take two of them, 800 mg is a safe dosage, so long as you don’t take it too often.

Once you’ve downed the ibuprofen, get something cold on your shoulders and neck. I know it may feel like it wants heat more than it wants cold, but stiff necks and shoulders are usually due to an inflammation somewhere, and inflammations respond better to cold. You might also try rubbing in some methyl salicylate lotion (like Ben Gay, or a similar product). Drink plenty of water, and if you’re a caffeine junkie like I am, make sure that you’re getting enough caffeine as well (caffeine withdrawal can cause nasty tension headaches, which is why caffeine is one of the ingredients in Excedrin).

If the combination of 400 mg of ibuprofen, methyl salicylate, and cold doesn’t work for you, then I’m out of over-the-counter options. A doctor might be willing to prescribe some muscle relaxants for you — but that could make studying rather difficult. They tend to knock you out.

Good luck, and I hope you can get rid of that headache!

Q: Does anybody know how to get rid of a tension headache?
Last week i pulled my neck and ever since ive been in so much pain havent been able to sleep and ive got a megga tension headache, doesnt matter what i take it wont go away!!!!

A: There are several pressure points. Try grabbing the web between your thumb and index finger and squeeze the spot that hurts for about 30 seconds. Alternate hands.
Find the indent between your neck and shoulder (on the top) and put pressure there on both sides, holding for thirty seconds at a time.
There’s an indent in your eyebrow above your pupil. Press on both of those at the same time.
The other point is at the back of your head where it meets your neck. You’ll find an indent on each side. Press up an in and hold for thirty seconds.
Alternate sites. It’s nice to have someone do it for you, but you can do these yourself.
Ever have someone give you a foot massage? It’s a great tension reliever!
I get alot of headaches that don’t go away with medication. Using these techniques usually helps me. Hope it helps you. Good luck.

Q: Does anyone else on here wake up in the morning with a tension headache?
If so, what do you do to relieve it besides taking medication? I’m preganant with twins, so I don’t want to risk harming them, however, I am suffering! These headaches seem to be getting worse, and worse. I’ve even gone to the ER over them, and that’s when I got diagnosed with tension headache. Dr prescribed Lortab and sent me on my way. Please help me if you know a better way?

A: I used to wake with tension headaches all the time, there were a couple of factors, one was stress, the other was my pillow… well the fact that I used too many, if your neck is in a weird position, you are more likely to end up waking with a headache. If they are caused by stress… try relaxation excercises, deep breathing, focussing on a calming scenario… Congratulations on the twins… best of luck with the rest of your pregnancy :)

Q: Can a tension headache cause pain in the face, especially the bridge of the nose?
It starts in the back of the neck and forehead and feel very tight. Then from the forehead it travels down to the face and nose. Are these two separate headaches such ans a sinus and tension? I have sinus congestion as well so it’s making it very difficult to figure out.

A: Nerves are connected internally. If your problem is connected to acidity, it is natural. You have sinus problem and face and forehead are not far away.

There is no medicine for H/A OR MIGRAINE. Not only these but for almost all painful diseases. Hence they become chronic.
Acidity, WORRY, excessive wind, cold , heat, sour food and sinusitis, constipation, intestinal inflammation;

Sweet foods, COCOANUT WATER,sweet fruits, milk, rice, SPROUTS, SALADS and good sleep will help you.

Q: recommendations for getting rid of a tension headache?
I get tension headaches pretty easily, mostly caused by stress. Besides the usual remedies of drinking water, taking tylenol, etc., is there anything else I can do?

A: Roll your shoulders and your neck, use cold packs, and Aleve beats Tylenol by a mile.

I also have one of those shiatsu machines that massage the neck, which has saved me a lot.

Q: Tension headache so bad I wear my glasses on the outside of my ears.?
A neurologist thinks I have chronic tension headache. He’s never heard of it being so bad that I can’t wear glasses on the inside of my ears. Does anyone else experience this, and does this mean something extra nutty about my condition?

A: I have never experienced this nor do I think that this indicates you being nutty about your condition. I do see it as reason for concern and it’s a very good reason for concern.

You could also have some issues going on with your jaw such as in a condition called Temporal Mandibular Joint Syndrome which can cause headaches and pain around the ear such as when wearing glasses.

I would recommend getting an opinion from the dentist as well to see what they say.

Q: What could cause pain that starts under the chin on left side of neck and goes up to ear and becomes headache?
With pain on bending over, or turning neck, headache on left side only lasting three days only dulled a little by tylenol. I am on antibiotics for another infection, so doesn’t seem to be from sinuses, or from tooth problems. Pain all night and on arising in the morning. Possible swollen lymph on that side?

A: you might have a clogged salivary gland.
A simple solution is biting into a lemon or something extremely sour. It will cause your salivary glands to flood and this sometimes removes the little crystal that has formed there. If clogged long enough you can form a crystal in there that will have to be removed by surgery as it becomes to large to exit through the opening there. It is almost like a kidney stone.
Try the lemon first and maybe a couple times to see if that helps.

Q: What causes this in the Septra warnings? “confusion, persistent headache, neck stiffness, seizures.”?
What is actually going on when this happens?
Seek immediate medical attention if any of these highly unlikely but very serious side effects occur: confusion, persistent headache, neck stiffness, seizures.

A: You are having a serious allergic reaction that is showing itself in neurological effects, the Septra is interfering with your normal brain chemistry.

Q: I hit my head yesterday, have a recurring headache and neck pain?
I hit my head yesterday lunchtime, I don’t think I hit it that hard, although it hurt at the time and I developed a headache straight away. I took some paracetamol that evening which took away the pain after a while.

The headache didn’t come back until this evening and I also have developed an aching pain in my neck and shoulders too.

Any ideas for whether I should get this checked out/how serious it could be?
I have taken paracetamol this evening but it has not taken away my headache as it did last night.

A: I think you should either go to A and E or see your GP as soon as you can.

Q: Pea size lump on neck and constant headache?
I recently discovered a pea size lump on the left side of my neck – near my shoulder and above the collar bone. Normally I wouldn’t think anything of it, but it’s painful to the touch and when I stretch my neck to the side. I’ve also had a constant, dull headache/sore neck that will not go away.

Any thoughts as to what it could be and what I should do? I’m just sick of waking up to a constant headache and tender neck!

A: Go to a doctor right away.

Q: Is it normal to have a headache and stiff neck a few days after having a temperature of 102?
Friday night, I noticed that I’d begun to develop a low grade fever. By Saturday evening, I saw the fever rise to 102.3, accompanied by the usual dehydration, aches, sweating and chills. The fever broke Sunday afternoon. It’s now Tuesday and I still have the same headache and stiff neck that I’d begun to notice Saturday night.

A: Go to the doctor just to get checked you could have meningitis or something.

Q: Can a muscle or nerve in the neck cause headache?
I had a horrible one sided headache last week. I still have the pain there. I had all the symptoms of a migraine except that along with it I had neck pain. Now it has settled right where the base of the skull meets the neck. It hurts when I move side to side and sends a shooting pain up my head.

My massage therapist did say that my clavical muscle on that side was very tight. Could a nerve or muscle cause pain in this spot or a headache?

A: yes. and a massage therapist would probably know. also maybe a chiropractor might help, or drinking water to stay hydrated. it’s possible yyou just slept on it wrong…

Q: What is causing my unilateral cough headache and neck stiffness? Please help!?
Six months ago, I started having one side (left) headaches and head pain. The pain comes from the back of my head and radiates into my temple. It is a pressure/aching feeling. I also have a left sided stiff neck. The headache is there daily.
The worst part is that when I cough/sneeze/strain the headache becomes much worse, feels like my head is going to explode for a few minutes until going back to normal.
I have had a brain MRI which was negative and been to several neurologists and neuro surgeons and all of them just want to put me on meds without finding out the cause of my pain. I am more worried about the cause of my pain than the pain itself.
I do have teeth clenching/TMJ on the left side but I don’t know if that is related. Thanks for your help!

A: TMJ could definately worsen it.

To me it sounds like your neck is spasming – and causing stress headaches.

Q: Can a pinched nerve in the neck cause headache?
Apart from sleeping in terrible positions because I have two dogs that make it impossible to get comfortable at night and make me sleep all twisted, can a bad back or pinched nerve cause headaches when waking up in the morning? When I get the occasional back rub I jump because my back and neck hurt so much when being massaged.

A: Absolutely. A pinched nerve can cause anything from minor discomfort to major problems.

Ban the dogs from your bed, take over the counter pain medication to relieve the headache, and see a doctor if it lasts more than a couple of days.

Q: Masturbation resulting in bad headache and neck pain?
Last week when I orgasmed I got an awful headache in the back of my head and some pretty bad neckpain. This has happened every single since then. Has this happened to anyone? What could be the cause of it?

A: yea that happened to me a few years back. doc said i had pulled a muscle in my neck. i had massage and stopped masturbating for a week. next time i tried it was all good… dont worry.

Q: How do I get rid of this neck pain and headache?
For the past few days I have been suffering from upper neck pains on the right side and this annoying headache. I first thought it was to do with “the monthly thing” but those headaches usually go away with sleep. This one wont. Then i thought it could be my pillow so i switched it and last night it was fine. But tonight the pain is back. Its driving me insane! Does anyone have any ideas how to get rid of both the neck pain and the headache and fast???? It hurts!!!

A: Sorry to hear that you are suffering from a headache and neck pain. I have a few suggestions to help you:
1) Ice your neck- this will help to reduce inflammation and give you some pain relief in your neck. Ice can be very soothing by providing an analgesic effect.
2) Neck Excercises will help to loosen up the neck muscles and increase your range of motion.
3) There is a newer product called the Halo Rejuvenator – that is made specifically for headache sufferers. The Halo works by increasing the blood supply to the affected areas (to the head and neck), strengthening the neck muscles and naturally enhancing spinal alignment. Check it out here: http://www.arc4life.com/site/615058/product/HaloPxReliever
4)Finally, get youself a good cervical neck pillow- this is very important for making sure that your head and neck are aligned properly when you are sleeping at night.

Good luck I hope this helps you out-

A: im actaully going through the samt thing right now and i also have a runny nose and my fever is at 101

i too am 18

Q: I have a headache and my neck is stiff and hurts really bad?
About twenty something hours ago I was walking down the stairs, slipped, and fell back, banging my head really hard. My neck has hurt and been stiff all day, and a headache just crept up on me about an hour ago. My dad tried giving me a massage earlier but that just hurt even worse. What do I do and is this something I need to be worried about? Please it hurts really bad!
NOTE: it’s the back of my neck that hurts!!

A: When you have stiffness of the neck, and an inability to move it, particularly after spinal or head injury, that is almost always a sign of trauma. Stiffness is caused by a buildup of fluid in the spinal canal, pressure on the cranial nerves, and swelling in the brain. If the swelling in the brain is caused by blood, the condition can be deadly. Bleeding in the spinal column would almost certainly lead to paralysis, and you would already be in the hospital. You may also experience stiffness and pain because of muscle seizure. In essence, it is possible that you gave yourself whiplash. In either event, you must be evaluated by a physician. You may have sustained serious injury.

Q: Is this a Sinus Headache? Moved from warm to very cold climate recently, have had headache in forehead & neck?
Was wondering if this could be sinus headache? Otherwise in great health. When I wake up and most days I have headache in forehead, back of neck and feel like I need to blow nose although not much in nasal…..just like water. Thank you.

A: A couple of thoughts. Try nasal irrigation and if it’s a sinus headache you will stop waking up with it. In cold climates people don’t open windows and doors to ventilate so there are a,lot more airborne particles. You could be breathing these in causing the sinus congestion, sinusitis and/or sinus headache. Air out your bedroom. Also make sure there is not mold in the bathroom or your bedroom. Most sinus infections are caused by fungi not bacteria.A sinus headache would not likely involve the back of the neck. Maybe you are sleeping differently in this house and straining your neck. You could have two problems going on. Just some possibilities. Nurse Kindheart

Q: Can a headache from neck problem cause high blood pressure?
I have spinal stenosis, cervical radiculopathy and herniated discs. After I stopped the traction at PT (my insurance stopped paying).
I started to get really intense headaches.
Now my blood pressure is really high
160/110 and my doc said it is from the pain.

Does pain cause your BP to go up like that?

A: yes pain can cause your b/p and your pulse to rise. high b/p can also cause you to have a head ache. i would try going to see a chiropractor.

Q: Why do bad headaches cause me to be more irritable?
I’ve been getting really bad headaches a few times a day every day for the past few years. The headaches cause me to be irritable and a little mean towards other people. I feel nauseous when I get these headaches. I’m sometimes a bit shaky and my anxiety increases. The pain goes away after I take some tylenol but I don’t want to depend on tylenol every single day.

A: Are you generally angry inside, but don’t vent it?

this can cause bad headaches for some people. some people who suffer with Depression also have frequent headaches too.

Q: What are some good hairstyles that do not cause headaches?
What are some good hairstyles that do not cause headaches?

I have very thick, curly hair, up to shoulder length.

Yesterday I went to the hair salon and tied my hair in a ballerina bun and I noticed that applying hairspray/hair gel on my hair just weighs it down and caused me a headache.

Q: Does sleeping in a humid environment cause headaches and back pains?
Hi, does sleeping in a humid environment cause headaches and back pains? Would a air humidifier help? Thanks.

A: Yes, so i would get an AC or take a cold shower when you start feeling this way. Or try not wearing thick cloths.

Q: Does too much peanut butter cause headaches and constrict blood flow?
Recently I have been eating 1000-2000 calories worth of peanut butter daily along with other things of course, only for the purpose of gaining weight, and since then, I have had massive headaches, and even now I am having a headache. I am beginning to think there is something in peanuts that constricts or slows down blood flow and causes them, so am I right or is there some other cause?

A: This is interesting. I just typed in “peanut butter consumption headaches” in Google, and came up with a number of results. What I mostly found is that it’s listed as a trigger food for migraines.

So, if you’re prone to migraines, than that could be what is causing your head to ache.

Hope this helps! I know chocolate (en masse) does that to me.

Q: Can getting your wisdom teeth cause headaches?
Are headaches and getting your wisdom teeth connected? Because I’ve been having random headaches and my wisdom teeth are coming in, so could this be the cause? My headaches have been going on for about 2 weeks and haven’t gotten any better or any worse.

A: Do you wear eye glasses or contact lense to correct your vision?

Eye-related headaches typically occur after extended periods of reading, watching television, computer work, or other close work that requires intense concentration. This type of headache usually disappears after a period of rest. In some cases, headaches may be caused by eyestrain related to eyeglasses. A tendency for the eyes to cross or drift outward may also bring on headaches.

One eye problem known to cause an intense headache is angle-closure glaucoma. With this type of glaucoma, the headache is only part of the problem. Patients suffering from an angle-closure attack also may experience nausea, intense pain around the eye, blurred vision, and haloes around lights.

Headaches caused by eye disease are unique in their symptoms and types of pain. It is important to make detailed notes of your symptoms, type of pain, lifestyle and what you were doing when the headache began. This information is very helpful to the physician to diagnose the type and cause of the headache you are experiencing.

The symptoms from headaches can be extremely variable and depend on the underlying problem. Because of the scope of the various types and causes is so immense, the following the headaches are described with the typical symptoms as they relate to the eye.

Headaches related to eye fatigue:

Headaches that begin after an extended period of reading, computer use, watching television, or close work

Burning eyes

Fatigue

Migraines

Throbbing pain

Sensitivity to light and sound

Nausea and vomiting

Visual “aura” including: light flashes, jagged lights, missing areas of vision

Acute angle-closure glaucoma

Intense headache that is usually centralized over brow area

Nausea and vomiting

Glare or haloes around lights

Stress relief, control of blood pressure, or medication to maintain appropriate hormonal levels may be necessary. New glasses or different work lighting may be prescribed by your doctor.

If you have persistent headaches, it is important to consult your medical doctor about them for a medical evaluation.

Q: Can wheat or gluten cause headaches and if so why?
I was told by my doctor that I might be allergic to wheat or dairy and that might my reason for my headaches. I went on a dairy free diet for two weeks and was still having headaches. I have been wheat and gluten free for almost a week now with no headaches but I was wondering why wheat or gluten would cause a headache?

A: Celiac disease is an autoimmune disease triggered by gluten found in wheat, rye and barley and products made from them. The gluten attacks the lining of the small intestine and disrupts the ability of the nutrients to be absorbed as well as allowing the gluten molecules to get through the lining which in people without celiac disease, the gluten doesn’t penetrate the intestinal wall. So either through a lack of a nutrient or a person’s reaction to gluten, it causes headaches or migraines in some people. Not all celiacs get headaches because the symptoms are so varied that it is hard to diagnose CD. Many people take an average of 8 years to diagnose from the onset of symptoms because the symptoms look like so many things.
Good luck maintaining a gluten free lifestyle. I have been gluten free for almost 6 years and it gets pretty easy once you adjust and change your diet. There are a lot of substitute products for breads, pastas and desserts so it is just a matter of finding those you like in taste and texture. Remember, frest fruits and veggies are gluten free as well as nonprocessed meats. Once you start getting into sauces and gravies is the place where gluten can be hidden if you don’t make them.

Q: Can keeping your hair in tight braids or pony tails or wearing headbands cause headaches?
I’m occasionally prone to migraines and often get tension headaches. Sometimes, if I’m wearing my hair up, I find some relief when I take it down. I was wondering if anyone knows if it’s actually possible for a ponytail to cause headaches.

A: I know it can cause some discomfort if you wear your hair up. Also, there have been reports of headbands causing discomfort. If they are too tight they can cause headaches. A ponytail is not the problem, its how tight you pull it back. Check out this website for headband styles and brands that won’t create the headband headache.

Q: Can sleep apnea cause headaches during the day?
I have sleep apnea…or atleast I think I do. People tell me that when I sleep, I stop breathing for awhile and make noises like I am choking. Is this sleep apnea? And if it is, does it cause headaches throughout the day? Because I have headaches almost everyday and I can’t think of what causes them.

A: You kind of have 2 questions here so to answer, yes, when you stop breathing when you’re sleeping it is typically referred to as sleep apnea. The noise may be you ‘catching’ your breath when you do start breathing again. Also, since the brain/body is being deprived of oxygen AND you don’t sleep near as well with apnea as you would without this condition, your headaches could be caused by either the lack of oxygen, or the severe lack of sleep, or a combination of both. You should see your doctor and have a sleep study done. Then you can take steps to resolve the problem.

Q: What can cause headaches while looking at a computer?
I have had my eyes checked, I have the right glasses, my computer is eye level but yet I am getting headaches more frequently while using my computer (sometimes even nausea) what else could be causing this? I dont think its glare because this is how its been for awhile.

A: Its just the way the pixels are used on a monitor, trust me i went through MRI’s cat scans and all the bit because i thought i had a brain tumor from all the headaches and worsening eye site. My doc said stay off the pc for a month, i did, and sure enough all my problems went away. until i started using the computer again, but oh well. best of luck.

I got my eyebrow pierced a couple months ago and it has been healing pretty normally, but today I got this really intense pain in my forehead and especially around my piercing and my eye. It doesn’t seem to be infected. There’s no swelling or discharge or anything but I don’t know what else would cause that. Is it an infection or just a headache?

A: i think its probably hit a nerve or like a vein or something just take it out and try to get a new one in the same eyebrow but different positiion

Q: Can wet hair laying on your neck cause headaches?
Sometimes when I put my hair in a really low bun and let it lay on my neck after I’ve gotten out of the shower, I get really horrible migraines. A: Yes.
