Q: Can you get glasses for a ocular migraine?
Can you. Some answered my question bout weird things in my eyes and they said it sound like an ocular migraine and i looked it up and found symptoms and those were exactly what i got when i had an ocular migraine.
The ye doctor said nothing was wrong with my eyes
im 12, no one believes me
can u get glasses for an ocular migraine?
A: No. Glasses have absolutely no affect upon ocular migraine.
Q: does anyone really know what ocular migraine is?
my husband this pass year have been having trouble with his eyes at times some times he wont have a episode for months.Hes only35.
hes sight will get very faint to were it forms the tunnel vision effect sort of after he gets very tired and drained of his engery which can take days to recover from altho he only loses his sight for maybe a few minutes at the least.
hes been to the eye people and they tell him its ocular migraines with out headaches they said there is really no way to test for this but since he had migraines when he was younger that it suggestes that this was what he had..
well my husband is like a child he wont let the doctors run any blood test or even dilate his eyes basicly all they can do is look in his eyes and do eye test which his vision is perfect. so i have no idea what could be the underlying story here or what i am about to face.
does anyone have the same symptoms.
he has a sore come up on his feet each time his eyes sight does it .the drs only guesing.
A: Without proper testing there is no way to truthfully know what is going on so you need to work on getting your husband to the docs for testing. Remind him that you want him to be around for a long time and the only way that will happen is if he gets checked out by a neurologist. These symptoms sound severe and all though it could be something minor it needs to be thoroughly checked out. There is no way to know what you are about to face without a diganosis. If he doesn’t get it checked out you could be in for a rough road if something serious happens. Something else that might help is to remind him if he gets this checked out now they may be able to help him sooner but if lets this go unchecked he may be doing more damage and it may take more to help him the longer he waits. Have you tried talking to his buddies to see if they can help or maybe some family memeber he is close to? I wish you luck.
Q: Has anyone ever experienced an Ocular Migraine?
My symptoms was seeing a wavy line in my right eye, almost like I was looking through a glass of water. After about 20 minutes it went away, then followed by a mild headache. I thought I was experiencing a detached retina. Scary stuff!!
A: I was having them daily for a while about a year ago. At first I had no idea what was going on I thought I was going blind or something. The worst part about it is how fatigued you feel. It also causes serious issues with driving when you frequently have ocular migraines. I talked to an optometrist and found out extended amounts of physical activity can trigger an ocular migraine. I have since toned down my work out and haven’t had an ocular migraine since.
Q: is there a link between MS and an Ocular Migraine?
Since I gave birth ( four months ago) I have experienced some strange vision disturbances. While I was pregnant towards the end of my pregnancy I noticed that I would get headaches in the afternoon and that sometimes it was hard to read. So I went to see an eyeglass specialist and was told I had a slight astigmatism. I was given reading glasses and was told to use them at night and while driving as well. I thought that was the end of my eye problems but a few weeks later I started having these episodes where I will see a small circle in my direct field of vision and it would be blurry. As minutes passed the circle would change into a small crescent moon shape and as it got bigger it would move to the right of my field of vision until it left the my field of vision all together. Lasting approx 20 mins. I did not have a headache with the first few episodes. I have since had about five episodes with the last one on this past monday and the last one was accompanied by a strong headache that surrounded my whole head and the headache lasted for hours where as the vision disturbance only lasted 20 mins. I assumed that this was an “ocular migraine” but decided to see my doctor anyways. Today I went to the doctor and I will be seeing a new eye doctor to determine that theres nothing wrong with my eyes and if there is nothing wrong with my eyes I will see a neurologist next. I have a family history of MS. No immediate family such as brothers, sisters, or parents…. but cousins, aunts, and great aunts.
I’m wondering if anyone with experience in neurological disorders knows of my experience as a symptom of any disorders including MS?
A: As far as I know there is no link between migrane and MS.
Q: Can I be pregnant after 1 week of trying and already feeling some symptoms?
My husband and I have started trying since April 16th 2006 after a miscarriage in March. I had an ocular migraine yesterday (24th) and was very tired and when I brushed my teeth my gums bled, which has happend with my 2 previous pregnancies. I called the eyedoctor and he said ocular migraines are common in pregnant women because of the hormones. The last time I had an ocular migraine I was 4 months pregnant with my first pregnancy. Is it possible that I am already pregnant?
A: yes i got pregnant 2 weeks after my miscarriage there is anew pregnancy test out now that can tell when you are 1 week pregant check in walmart they sell it i not that much about $5.00 i think but try ther or get a blood test that way will really know for sure that abount $ 20.00 at the clinc or if you have insurnance it only your copay or if you have medicaid its nothing.
Q: Can you become a pilot if you get ocular migraines?
With me, for the past few months I lose sight in my right eye for about 3 minutes or so (happens roughly once a month) but I don’t get any other symptoms. I don’t have any other eye problems. I’m considering trying to be a military pilot, but I’m not sure if I can because of this. Would it prevent me from being a pilot?
A: Meg is right about this being a DQ for even enlistment in the AF. Not sure about the Navy, however.
There’s a possibility of getting a medical waiver for the Army (they seem to be more lenient?) if you’d consider being a helicopter pilot or something to that effect.
But then again, think about it:
Dog fight over hostile territory.
You vs bad guy.
Then all of a sudden…. VISION GONE.
aaaaand then comes that missile you didn’t see, and couldn’t maneuver away from in time.
ooops!
*best of luck to you!!
ps. you should call a recruiter, and ask this question off the record.
Q: Heard of ocular migraines?
Has anyone been diagnosed with ocular migraines and if so what symptoms did you have?
A: I’ve had tunnel vision and twitchy eyes from this. It’s not fun.
Q: Temporary loss of vision combined by headache.?
My husband gets this unusual problem where he loses his vision partially for a hour or so followed by severe headache for a day orso.We consulted three doctors and they feel it is ocular migraine. His symptoms are different from that of ocular migraine and we are not convinced.Any opinions based on experience are welcome.
A: I would suggest a consultation with a neurologist. There could be some problems in blood supply to the brain and some other parts of the head. A thorough exam is needed.
Q: ocular migraines?????????
im 12. i have ocular migraines. i get them 2-7 months. what should i do!
p.s. myu mom will NEVER take me to an doctor again because we went last year about this problem in my eyes, and they said nothing is wrong.
p.s.s. i recently found out on a website that i do have ocuular migraines. I get the exact symptoms. vommit, double vision. massive head aches, just want to be in quiet rooms, and hard to see.
A: You HAVE to talk to your mom.
Try a different doctor, sometimes- the doctor’s are a in a rush one day, are just tired, and don’t really care & aren’t foccusing. & other times, the doctor’s just SUCK.
Try a different eye doctor, tell your mom & tell her that you need help.
& tell her that A LOT can change in one year.
If she still won’t take you, next time to you have your annual physical (wellness check up) mention this to your pediatrician. I’m sure they might be able to help in SOME way.
:]
Q: Brain tumor or just bad migraine?
My symptoms are:
Severe headaches, but all day long with no change.
I have a floater but I have had it for a long time and just recently began seeing ‘flashes’ when the bad headaches came.
I also have neck pain but I think I may have pulled a muscle because it feels fine when rested
These are also symptoms of ocular(sp?) eye headaches or migraines which my father has. Also, I’m 16.
I have a doctor’s appt tomorrow, and an MRI soon. I am just freaking out and thinking the worst I hope.
A: 2
Q: I have PCOS and I have symptoms of pregnancy but the tests say NEGATIVE?
I am 23 years old and have been DX with PCOS. I have seen a fertility Dr since December 2007. I have had all the test and everything is good except the PCOS. I have two periods a year and they come whenever they want. My husband and I want a child of our own and have been trying for about 6 months. He has three children of his own from a previous marriage and its hard to deal with the fact that I cant share with him what he did with someone else. Within the last month we have had intercourse everyday. The past two and a half weeks ive had a stomach nausea, increased urination, a huge increased appetite, my breast hurt when they aren’t in a bra and my nipples are starting to hurt if they are touched to hard. Ive had some ocular migraines but not alot. I am more tired then usual but no vomiting. I work at a OBGYN and have access to pregnancy tests, so everyday this past week I have taken one at 8:30am and its been negative. Any other time that I have had intercourse and made myself believe that I could be pregnant I have never had these symptoms let alone this severe. I am taking PNV and trying to make sure that I don’t eat junk when my appetite skyrockets. Is there anyone that can help me or give me some advice? All I want is to have a baby so when I wake up everyday with a upset stomach I am actually happy!!! Please help! Thank you
A: I too am 23 and have PCOS and have been trying to conceive for a year and a half. Once I was DX I got on metformin and now am on my first cycle of Clomid. The metformin controls the problem that people with PCOS have with blood sugar. This is the first medication that you would want to get on. It’s only 4 bucks for a month at Walmart Pharmacy! I’m like you, I only have 2-4 periods a year, so I never know when/if I ovulate. I was on provera to induce a period then Clomid to induce ovulation. These are both cheap medications also. I would get a good doctor to consult with. It’s possible you are pregnant, but usually the PCOS do not affect the outcomes of home pregnancy tests. PCOS does however affect the outcome of the ovulation predictor kits, so beware! A great site for encouragement and information is www.soulcysters.com Good luck to you!
Q: weird migraine headache?
OK for the past 3-4 days i have had all the symptoms of a migraine. February 2 i went to a swim meet for my school and was perfectly fine when we left but when we got there i felt like crap. I have had the vomiting, nausea, head pain on the left side, seeing little zigzag likes and other hilusinations………etc………
I’m 15 years old and have a condition caller Ocular Albinism
what I’m really asking is this really a serious migraine or just a bad headache
iam also on my period could that have anything to do with what has been going on??
I usually dont have this but i did get this aura thing a week before i starting having these migranes
A: I don’t know what Ocular Albinism is so I don’t know if that relates to the headache or not.
The way doctors distinguish migraines from regular headaches is based on the nausea, vomiting, vision changes, and sometimes pain on only one side of head SO I would say you have a migraine.
I had migraines all through middle and high school. I still get them occasionally. My neurologist told me that a migraine can be one of two things. Either the blood vessels in your brain are swelling and causing too much blood flow to your head and therefore making it hurt OR the blood vessels are constricting and not enough blood is getting to your head. Ibruprofen (Advil) helps some people because it reduces swelling so it will help those whose veins swell. Asprin is a blood thinner (so is Advil but Asprin works better for me) so if your blood vessels are constricting it will thin the blood and allow more blood to get to your brain. I’m an adult and I don’t have kids so I’m not sure if either of these meds are appropriate for minors. Also, since you have another condition you may not be able to take either. Ask your mom or dad to help you.
And yes, a lot of women get migraines in relation to part of their monthly cycle.
Q: I think i have a vision problem!?
is it okay to buy reading glasses from the dollar store if you dont need them but u could really use them. bc sometimes when i read things start to go fuzzy and my brain gets iir-a-tated and to make it clear i have to squint. I see out of +1.50 the best.
And dont say: go see a an eye doctor bc i was just at on elast year and I recently jsut asked my mom to go back and she was like, ” NO! I wasted 50$ for the eye doctors to tell me you have 20/20 vision” and the last time i had to BEG her to go bc i was having trouble readin gbc of my vision. Shes not goin gto take me bak so thats out the question. But I also have ocular migraines i recently discovered online.
I wouldnt wear the reading glasses *all* the time. only sometimes when i read bc thats when it usually happens and it also happens when im on the pc for like an hour then im like blind.
Could i get reading glasses? or just wait till im 18 to shcedule my own appointment. Im 12, and my mom doesnt even believe me about ocular migraines. I matched all my symptoms to it: vomit, weird thing in eye, sensitive to noise, the most horrible headache. and yea.
dont say see an eye doctor bc my mom is not going to take me, i bet you my life she wont take me back, and when we did go to the eye doctor, we went to walmart. Is walmart a good place to go to get eys checked? And it was only 50 dollars
A: First off, I’m an optician. Second, it’s my responsibility to tell you that you should see an eye doctor. As for Wal-Mart, they are real doctors. having 20/20 vision tells me that your far vision is good. If the “cheaters” are helping you with your reading, then you might need reading glasses. Continue to use those till you can see the eye doctor.
Q: I need an eye doctors help. ONLY an eye doctor?

A: Eyes should be checked every 1-2 years, as they change with time. Also, the exam can look for other problems besides vision issues. You do not have ocular migraines because you read it online. Migraines are much more than a severe headache. And other things can cause the symptoms you are having. Perhaps your mom could get you in for a regular physical, the doctor could check some of the symptoms and see if you really have a medical problem. Any one can buy “readers” but if you really have vision issues, you may need more than just magnification. Good Luck.
Q: Just got out of two hospitals…tell me what you think.?
I had an ocular migraine couple of days ago. The today I had some chest pains. I decided to go to the hospital. IN the hospital I started getting really nervous and then I got dizzy my hands started tingling and my heart was racing unbelievably fast! I was so scared I was getting a stroke. I was out in a room to take a ekg I think its called. The ekg came out fine. They also x ray ed my chest and they said that looked fine as well. Being thaT i started to feel nautious again I got scared and brought myself to a another hopstial in the same night! They took a ekg again and then i started to feel anxious and nervous again and feel dizzy. It subsided quickly though. I didnt get to talk to a doctor for a long time and then they scanned my head to see if the ocular migranes could be anything bad. That came out fine as well. My question is…do you think those panic attacks where panic attack or were they mini strokes or almost strokes. the symptoms I was feeling was Dizzy Nasea increased heart rate sweating tingling hands> can all of that come from a panic attack? I really hope that was a panic attack and not an intense sign of a stroke. Please helpful advice would be great. I am also on xanex and I was told to see a nerologist to see if theres a problem with those ocular migrains I was getting. Both doctors said those symptoms where panic attacks and axiety but I really hope there right
A: Sorry but you are just like me a paranoia! I just had the call out Dr to tell me if I was having a heart attack, I get really panicky and constantly think I am hasving a heart attack, i suffer alot of migraines and have taken myself to the hospital several times and once by ambulance.. I think you just have really bad anxiety like me.. I would see your Dr and maybe get some meds
